The working day. At last! Kate seriously believed that every problem in life sprang from idleness, and that returning to work would rid her of the strange dreams and feelings.

The hardest thing was walking past Gordon as though nothing had happened after he’d spanked her like his own bitch. To do it, Kate adopted her most remote, cold, arrogant expression. Her trademark look.

But the old man still wouldn’t let her pass in silence.

“Good morning, Mrs. Stephenson!” he said, unexpectedly getting her name right, and touched her back. Kate actually stopped, uncertain which surprised her more: that the senile old fool had finally learned her name, or that wholly inappropriate touch. Remembering how he had spanked her, the boss settled on the latter.

“Take your hand off me,” she said coldly.

“All right, but don’t walk past without saying hello. It’s impolite!” Gordon said, lowering his hand. As if by accident, his hand brushed the ideal backside of the lofty idealist. Goose bumps raced up the beauty’s back after his aged hand. She disliked being touched by anyone but her husband; it irritated her. But the old man had done it so quickly and naturally that it was impossible to accuse him of deliberate indecency.
