Thanksgiving came up because it was coming up, and because I was about to spend a week in a house with Mike, the girls, and Candice, who could smell a performance.
“Please control yourself,” I said. “The texts. I will be around Mike and the kids and his mother almost the entire time. I do not want anything inappropriate popping up on my phone in front of Sophie. She reads faster than I do.”
“Unlock your phone and give it to me.”
I did. He installed WhatsApp and then started working to change various settings and then made a folder. His hands were quick and sure, which I noticed and filed under things I was not going to examine today.
“Notifications are not off for me,” he said. “While you are gone, I will only use WhatsApp. Nothing on the lock screen. Nothing over a game.” He showed me a hidden folder. “I moved the photos and the videos you have taken in here. If the girls use your phone in the car, they will not find them by accident. You have to move anything new yourself. It will not do it for you.”
