Chapter 8: Other Doors
True Story Sex Story: Chapter 8: Other Doors - The 6th in my Infidelity series about how I cheated on my BF, got involved with with the guy I cheated with for 6.5 months and what started as a mistake, became an affair and then slowly turned into my loss of self and degradation. This 6th story takes place about 6 weeks after I first cheated in what was the "happy time". I was already seeing the control and training taking place and in this story I tried to stand up for myself. Be sure to read the previous stories for this to make sense.

I sat down.
The eggs and bacon were still good. The coffee tasted the way it should, and I ate because I could hear Amber’s voice in my head about skipping, and because a person who has just swallowed a man in his kitchen should at least pretend to be an adult about breakfast.
The talk unspooled anyway, with no audience but the empty chair.
You were going to tell him the training is too far. You were going to say your body does not belong to a sentence. You were going to say you cannot cum in Mike’s bed without hunting a face that is not there. Instead, you got on your knees.
I wanted him; and that was the plain version! I woke up full of last night, the three words, and the smell of him on the sheets, and ten minutes of his attention felt like a resource I wasn’t grown enough to spend on conflict. Conflict might have ended it. I had already decided yesterday that if the talk went badly, I wanted one more night. I got the night, and this morning I took more time like a thief.
Was I in love with him, or with the way he aimed himself at me?
The lights in the yard, the bath, the command that had dropped me in front of a window—the photograph I was now recreating without being asked. If I loved him, the talk was how you love someone without disappearing. If I only loved the heat, the talk was how you find that out. Either way, I had chosen bacon and a blowjob.
Then I thought of his parting words: he had given me a key to his house. With that simple statement, he had opened more than just his door to me, and I wasn’t sure how to react.
Then Mike arrived in my head without knocking, and the guilt wasn’t a small flicker. It was a wave that went through my stomach and my mouth and the place Tyler had still been leaking out of me an hour ago.
I had not said good night.
I had fallen asleep in another man’s arms, whispering a sentence Mike still thought was his, and I hadn’t even sent the cheap little text that would have let him sleep.
The phone was in the bedroom. I went and got it. 9:40 already.
Three missed texts and two missed calls. All from Mike.
Mike: Hey babe, you make it home okay?
Mike: Getting a little worried. Just checking in. Love you.
Mike: Okay. I am going to assume you passed out. Call me when you wake up. I love you.
The voicemails were the same thing in his tired, steady voice. Not angry.
Checking. The voice of a man who doesn’t assume the worst because he’s decided you are not the worst.
I sat on the edge of Tyler’s bed and typed with my thumbs feeling thick.
Beth: I am so sorry. I passed out last night, and I just woke up. Phone was on
silent like an idiot. I am fine. I feel terrible that I made you worry.
Beth: Gym, some shopping, laundry, the glamorous Wednesday tour. Can we do
something tonight? I can cook if you want to stay in.
His reply came fast enough to make the guilt worse.
Mike: You scared me a little. Glad you are okay. Do not cook. It is your day off.
I am taking you out. Be at my place at five, and we will go somewhere with tablecloths. I love you.
Beth: Five. Tablecloths. I will try to look like a person with clothes that go with shoes that aren’t sneakers or clogs. Love you too.
I set the phone down and stared at Tyler’s bedroom wall.
Passed out. Silent like an idiot. Fine. Every word had a true cousin and a false one. I had passed out. I had not passed out in my own bed. I was fine in the way a house can be fine while a slow leak works under the floor.
I put the plug back in because he would want me to.
That sentence should have stopped me. It did not. I used more lube this time, learned my lesson from the dry extraction, and seated it with my jaw tight.
Walking through his house to gather my bag, I felt claimed in a way that was starting to feel like clothing. I locked his door behind me with the key he had pointed to on the hook, which was its own small domestic horror, and I drove toward a version of Wednesday that could still pass for mine.
The market was fluorescent and ordinary. I bought what we were out of. I crouched for pasta on the bottom shelf because the universe enjoys a motif, and when I glanced back along my own shoulder I found an old man at the end of the aisle doing nothing to hide where he was looking.
My ass. Bent. Offered, as far as he was concerned, by the geometry of grocery stores.
Gary’s window arrived so fast I almost dropped the box.
Last night, with the fire illuminating me in all my glory while Tyler moved behind me like a machine, I had seen a stranger’s face in glass. I thought of the intense way I had come staring at him instead of at the man who had told me to send heat through me in a humiliating rush. I was wet before I’d even stood up. I put the pasta in the basket like a person who had not just replayed being fucked for an audience next to the dry goods.
I did not look at the old man again. I paid. I sat in the car with the bag beside me and my pulse in my throat and thought, not kindly, that my body had started collecting watchers the way some people collect mugs.
The gym was midmorning busy in the way that means retirees and people who work from home and Izaak on the row of free weights he preferred.
He had been flirting with me on and off for six months. He was tall and handsome, with dark black skin and a perfect smile.
He said good morning as if he meant it, and he always asked how the hospital was treating me as if the answer mattered.
“You look like you’re good, almost glowing,” he said, racking the bar. “That is rare on you lately. I was starting to think nurses were grumpy by default.”
“Grumpy is still the official position all nurses must adhere to in public,” I said. “But today I had bacon with breakfast and am breaking the rules. Please don’t tell the board.”
