Chapter 3: Reflections

True Story Sex Story: Chapter 3: Reflections - The 5th in my Infidelity series about how I cheated on my BF, got involved with with the guy I cheated with for 6.5 months and what started as a mistake, became an affair and then slowly turned into my loss of self and degradation. This 5th story takes place about a month after I first cheated in what was the "happy time" but I was already seeing the control and training taking place. Be sure to read the previous stories for this to make sense.

The dining room still looked a mess. Plates, glasses, the salad bowl with a few leaves of lettuce and a stray crouton or two clinging to the side. Tyler removed his dress shirt so as not to get it dirty and worked in jeans and nothing else, which felt like a dress code violation I was enjoying far too much, and started running water. I bumped him aside with my hip and took the sponge.

“You cook, I wash is traditional,” he complained.

“You ate the cook. The social contract is void.”

He snorted and started drying. We moved around each other in the small space with an ease that should have taken years to develop and instead seemed to come naturally after only one night and a dryer. He flicked water at me. I threatened him with a wooden spoon. He caught my wrist and stole the spoon, kissed me with it still in his hand, and called me dangerous before swatting my ass hard with it. I called him a monster for beating the chef with her own cooking utensils. He swatted me again and said maybe the chef deserved it for making such a mess with the dessert. The whole thing was stupid. The whole thing made my chest feel so full it hurt.

I was happy.

Not the sharp, intense guilty spike of sexual pleasure I had been living on the last few weeks. Not the afterglow that always curdled on the drive home. This was different, quieter, overwhelming in a way that scared me because it did not feel like a mistake in motion. It felt like joy; natural and unforced;t like companionship. I loved the way he watched me while I talked. I loved the way he laughed at the dumb things I said like they were actually funny. I loved the attention, the specific, undivided focus of it, and I loved, most dangerously, how easy it was to stand in my own kitchen with him and pretend the rest of the world had agreed to wait outside.

He set the last glass down and leaned against the counter, studying me with that crooked smile I used to want to wipe off his face and had, at some point I could not pinpoint, started to love.

“I should probably go,” he said.

My stomach lurched when I heard those words. They felt like a physical blow that pulled me down, threatening to take the joy I had just been wondering about and turn it instantly sour. My God, how had this man sunk his hooks so deeply into me so fast? The idea of him leaving actually hurt. What was happening to me?

I pretended to consider them for a moment, while I really tried to organize my emotions, pushing out the three words that kept trying to rise to the surface of my consciousness. I finally pushed them back down in the part of my soul where I had been trying to keep them locked up and took one of his hands in both of mine. The smile on my face was huge and unhidden. I am sure that if I could have seen myself then, as Tyler had seen me, things might have turned out differently, because I know without a shadow of a doubt that he could read me like a book, and at that moment, my face, my body language, and my smile must have shone like the neon lights of Las Vegas advertising how I truly felt about him. I started walking backward out of the kitchen and down the hall, pulling him with me, ridiculous little laughs coming out of me for some reason I couldn’t control. He followed slowly, his signature crooked smile answering mine, letting himself be led like a man who already knew where this was going but wanted to hear me say it anyway.

“There’s no reason for you to go,” I told him. “We have all night. We have all weekend. DoorDash exists. The outside world can send a postcard.”
