Angela and Logan wrapped up another gym session and walked over to their go-to coffee shop. The route there felt second nature by now. Inside, they slipped into their usual seats. Angela’s muscles still buzzed with leftover heat from the workout. Her tight black top hugged her chest, and the leggings fit snug against her curves. She felt that lingering burn, but there was something deeper—an inner heat, just from sitting across from Logan.

She remembered the way he’d called her body the sexiest he’d ever seen. She could still feel those playful taps on her ass. But today, the question felt different. It wasn’t about decoding him anymore—she just needed to hear it again. She looked right at him.

“Do you find my body sexually attractive?”

Logan didn’t hesitate. “Yeah. It’s the best body I’ve ever seen.”

He leaned in, his voice solid. “You don’t see yourself the way I do. You focus on the numbers, the weight—like it’s a flaw instead of something to love.”

His words hit her. It felt good and uncomfortable all at once. She shook her head.

“It’s not about me. It’s about how Brad’s been treating me.”

Logan frowned. “Why?”

She kept her voice low. Admitting it felt strangely easy. “The marriage lost its spark a while ago. When I gained weight, Brad stopped complimenting me. He stopped wanting sex. He doesn’t look at me the way he used to.”

Logan snorted. “He stopped appreciating you because you gained weight? Honestly, this is your prime. I’d swear to it.”

His eyes stayed locked on hers. “When a guy stops caring like that ... sometimes it means he’s looking elsewhere. People change.”

Angela’s chest tightened with anger. “Don’t talk about my husband.”

Logan didn’t back down. “I’m just saying it’s possible. Everyone drifts for reasons.”

She didn’t reply after that. They finished their coffee mostly in silence. When they walked out together, the air was thick between them.

The walk home felt different. Logan’s words wouldn’t stop looping in her mind. When a man stops treating his wife the way he used to ... sometimes it means his attention has moved somewhere else.

She moved through the house almost in a trance: folding laundry, wiping the counter, checking on Peter. Her son lay quietly in bed. She tucked him in, smoothed his hair, and slipped out of the room like always. But routine didn’t stop the doubt from building. It just kept growing, heavier and heavier.

This was ridiculous. She’d never checked up on Brad before; she trusted him. Logan’s suggestion had no real evidence behind it. Still, the suspicion wouldn’t let go. What if Brad really was seeing someone else?

By late afternoon, the doubt was too much to ignore. Brad had left his laptop open on the bedroom desk—something he almost never did. She sat down and opened it. The password was no mystery.

She checked WhatsApp. Ordinary stuff—work, groups, nothing hidden. Email: bills, newsletters, work threads. His social media: nothing suspicious. She almost felt relieved.

Then she remembered seeing Telegram notifications pop up on his phone—quick flashes he’d always swipe away. He’d mentioned some old group chat there months ago. She opened the app.

At the top of the chat list was a name she recognized: Susan. An old friend, recently divorced. She and Brad hadn’t talked to Susan in years. Dread pushed her forward. She clicked.

The latest messages were impossible to misread. Can’t stop thinking about yesterday. You felt so good. Same hotel at 2? I need you again. Wear the black underwear. I want to take it off with my teeth.

Angela’s chest felt crushed. Her hands shook as she scrolled up. More messages. More plans. Meetings in hotel rooms, sometimes in Brad’s car, once at the office after everyone had left. The farther she scrolled, the dirtier the language. Then the photos: Susan naked, spread out on a bed; Brad’s hand on her body; close-ups that showed everything. The affair stretched back months.

It hit her like a punch. It was hard to breathe. There was hot, raw anger first—searing and sickening. Heartbreak swallowed the anger, deep and hollow. It felt like something vital had been carved out of her.

She just sat there, staring. After a while, the tears started and wouldn’t stop. She cried into her hands, the pillow, anything that could muffle the sound. It was like every distant look from Brad, every cold night, every unspoken compliment had turned into something ugly and real.

When the sobbing finally slowed, Angela grabbed her phone. Her hands were still unsteady. She didn’t want to call Logan—he’d been the one who put the doubt in her head. But he was also the only one she’d gotten close to lately. And that decided it. She found his number and called.

Logan picked up quickly. He heard it in her voice right away.

“What’s wrong?”

“I need to talk to you. In person.”

They picked the coffee shop. Five o’clock.

Angela got there first. Logan was already at their table. As soon as she sat down, words came rushing out. She explained everything—the suspicion that wouldn’t leave, the laptop, the messages, the Telegram chat, Susan. She barely made it through the details of the hotel plans and photos. She broke down and cried.

Logan moved closer, slid his hand across her back, and gently wiped her tears. His touch was careful, his voice low and calming. The warmth of his hand settled her.

“Hey. Breathe. You’re strong. Don’t let him ruin you.”
