Victim nr. 4: Giada Vittore – The End
Milano, Italy. Friday, 3:00 AM.
Giada is heading home in an Uber ride, very late in the middle of the night. At twenty-four years old, with a head-turning body and face, she is an economics student at the local university. Her family lives in Southern Italy. Giada is engaged to Salvatore, who is three years her senior and works as an engineer at a construction company back down south. They met when she was in her last year at Liceo, when Giada was eighteen, and Salvatore was twenty-one, and they have been a couple ever since.
He had been her first. They are engaged, but no wedding date has been set yet. Living on opposite sides of the country is hardly the ideal way to start a family. Next year, Giada will earn her master’s degree, and she is looking forward to finding a job back home. If that doesn’t work out, perhaps Salvatore will apply for a position at a company up north. It shouldn’t be difficult, but they both love the sunny southern weather and living by the seaside, and they strongly prefer to build their future close to home.
The real issue that worries Giada is her habit of a luxurious lifestyle. She adores designer clothes, high-end accessories, and expensive jewellery. She constantly reminds herself that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Unfortunately, the money provided by her family isn’t nearly enough to satisfy her expensive tastes, and that is precisely why she is out in the early hours of the morning: Giada is a top-tier escort. She has just left a five-star hotel after spending the night with one of her ‘sugar daddies’.
To be fair, with very few exceptions, the sex is far from great and couldn’t compare to the great, fulfilling sex Salvatore gives her. Most of her clients are old, overweight, or out of shape, and many rely on blue or yellow pills just to keep their cocks hard. The youngest, and by far the best in bed, is a forty-year-old married entrepreneur; the oldest, though surprisingly not the worst, is a seventy-year-old divorced engineer.
But Giada knows exactly how to drive them crazy. She knows how to suck their cocks and eagerly swallow right before their eyes, when to let them fuck her ass, always for an extra fee, how to fake body-shaking orgasms, and how to indulge their most perverted fantasies to make them feel like absolute bulls.
They all pay her good money and frequently bring her expensive gifts, a habit she subtly reinforces at the end of their sessions for the ‘next time’ they meet. She says something like, ‘Oh, Daddy, I saw the most fabulous purse in the Armani boutique. Wouldn’t it look perfect on me? I’d be so grateful next time.’ Depending on the client, she can swap out the purse for a gold necklace, diamond earrings, a designer dress, or luxury lingerie, but the result is always the same.
And yet, she truly loves Salvatore. She knows without a doubt that he is the man for her future, but she wonders how she will ever transition back to an ordinary family life. For now, while they live far apart, it is easy to hide her luxurious lifestyle. Whenever Salvatore flies up to visit, she stows away the designer labels and wears only jeans, T-shirts, sweaters, and sneakers, the classic student outfit. But what will happen when she moves back permanently?
In the meantime, the Uber driver pulls up in front of her home’s building entrance. Giada steps out and heads straight for the entrance to her apartment. As she pretends to rummage through her purse for her keys, she catches the sound of soft, stealthy footsteps closing in behind her.
She is totally ready.
Turning back, she faces the masked man lunging toward her. Before he can react, she drives a fast kick directly into his groin. As he doubles over in agonizing pain, she shatters his nose with a perfectly placed knee strike, followed instantly by a devastating right elbow to the temple that knocks him out cold.
A military-style tactical knife slips from the man’s fingers as he crashes to the pavement, completely unconscious.
Agent Giada Vittore, the youngest officer on Emma Rizzi’s team, a third-degree black belt, and the police regional martial arts champion, has just single-handedly taken down the Scarlet Letter Killer.
Commissario Emma Rizzi
The moment the man hit the pavement, we ran into the entrance and cuffed him. Honestly, it was completely unnecessary; Giada had done such a thorough job that he wouldn’t be waking up for hours. Our sting operation had been a success, and the nightmare that had flustered Milano was finally over.
We removed the ski mask from the unconscious man’s face, and the shock hit us instantly. The face belonged to Alessio Torti, the star reporter for Il Corriere. It was a stunning revelation, but it suddenly explained everything. Why he was always so well-informed about our investigations, and why a haunting sense of familiarity had washed over me when I watched the CCTV footage of Sofia’s murder. I had met him and spoken to him many times during press conferences and in the police station’s hallways.
The breakthrough in the case came just as we were losing all hope. Following Sofia’s death, we had chased down every single forensic lead and financial record, only to hit a complete dead end.
Then, a colleague from the cybercrime division handed us the case-changing breakthrough. While digging through the dark web for an unrelated human trafficking investigation, he had stumbled across an encrypted forum called “The Secret Courtroom”. What immediately triggered his attention was the homepage logo, a stylised letter ‘A’ that closely resembled our killer’s bloody signature, paired with a short, chilling quote: ‘You will be wiped out of our world completely - Lady Chatterley’s Lover.’
The homepage was completely locked down; only a single button reading ‘Get the invitation link’ was visible. It was definitely a lead that got our attention.
We immediately went to work, bypassing the entry barrier to the hidden site. To request an invite link, the system required contact info, a Bitcoin wallet address, and a referral from at least one active member.
We had to dig deep across the internet, but by cross-referencing the site’s name, we located traces in various public forum discussions. These public forums also provided our first solid evidence that the site was dedicated entirely to discussing and exposing extramarital affairs. Eventually, we managed to engage with people who appeared to be active users of “The Secret Courtroom” and secured the needed referral.
With that referral, we registered a fake profile on the site. We used a dummy Bitcoin account specifically generated for the investigation, funded entirely by the police department’s public resources.
Once inside, we found the site’s main page was an open forum section titled ‘Private Investigations’ where registered users could whistle-blow, expose, and systematically track women’s secret affairs.
We began searching through the forum’s massive database. Among many names, threads, and uploaded evidence, we found the names of our three victims. This was the first piece of concrete, undeniable evidence that connected all three murdered women.
We dug into the threads containing information about Silvia, Elisa and Sofia. The first post, exposing their affairs, had been sent about two or three months before their death.
On Silvia Fanti’s thread, there was a photo of Silvia slipping out of Mauro Ghisi’s apartment while hugging him in front of the building’s door. As we later found out, another woman coming from the gym was taking a selfie and spotted the two. She took a picture and sent it to a WhatsApp group chat, just to raise some gossip.
Another thread featured an explicit picture of Elisa Salini being fucked by Antonio Ralli, a shot clearly taken by a third person sharing the same room. The story behind this evidence was that one of the group sex team members wanted to take pictures to use as future leverage and boost his career prospects, so he kept his smartphone hidden in Antonio’s office and shot some silent photos. Unfortunately, his device was stolen, and before he could wipe everything, someone saved the pictures and shared them.
Sofia Nardelli had been captured in the background of an unrelated influencer’s Instagram reel, clearly visible hugging and kissing Fabio Pastore in a hotel’s swimming pool. The reel was discovered by a colleague of Sofia’s husband, Giovanni, a follower of the influencer, who knew Sofia and spotted her in the background. He also shared his discovery on a WhatsApp group chat.
How the evidence arrived at the dark site and who actually posted it first is still unknown.
What had happened in the comment sections after those initial posts was almost unbelievable. The community linked to the site looked like a distributed, amateur private investigation agency.
Users volunteered to follow up with the investigations, digging up further evidence of the ongoing affairs. They systematically mined the women’s histories, families, employment locations, and lifestyles, as well as those of their lovers. Some users of that dark site must have been hackers or something similar, as most of the evidence came from victims’ hacked personal and home devices: audio recordings, pictures, even videos taken during sex or in other intimate moments with their lovers. A few were pictures taken by a personal, physical tailing of the two lovebirds.
Once this initial screening job was complete, any thread containing enough verified evidence to confirm an active affair was locked from the public area. It was then forwarded to the site’s premium area, named “The Cheaters’ Courtroom”.
Access to this private inner circle required a 30-euro monthly subscription fee, payable only in Bitcoin. We processed the payment using our undercover wallet and finally got access to the heart of the site.
“The Cheaters’ Courtroom” was still a forum where evidence was further discussed; users would debate the affair, sometimes uploading additional evidence.
For every case under review, a panel of twenty ‘jurors’ was randomly selected from the pool of registered users. These jurors cast their votes using a built-in, encrypted polling system. Just like in a real court of law, the jury’s verdict was binary: ‘Guilty’ or ‘Not Guilty,’ by majority vote.
The “Not guilty” sentence was usually based on the fact that the cheating woman was living in an abusive or violent marriage, or if the cheating was revenge cheating against the husband’s infidelity.
If a woman was found guilty, the jury would suggest a punishment, but the final sentence had to be confirmed by a second poll open to all premium members. This final vote carried an execution fee, payable strictly in Bitcoin; each ballot cost the equivalent of 20 euros. Looking back through the archive of past votes, I watched the numbers grow over time. The first poll had only eighty-five voters. By the time the last victim, Sofia, was sentenced, that number had grown to more than five hundred paying participants. And we found at least thirty cases discussed and voted on over the past two years.
In most instances, the poll forced a choice between two penalties: private exposure, where the evidence was sent only to the unsuspecting partners, or public humiliation, which involved anonymously leaking the explicit material to both the lovers’ families, workplace, social networks, and public blogs.
However, in a handful of cases, when the jurors found the ongoing deception to be uniquely calculated and heinous, a terrifying third option was added to the ballot: execute the unfaithful woman.
A sickening majority of the site’s users had actively voted for the deaths of Silvia, Elisa, and Sofia. In stark contrast, four other women had narrowly escaped with their lives, saved only by the final percentages of a digital poll.
Looking into this absolute insanity was terrifying. How could people so casually sentence a fellow human being to death? Did they genuinely believe it was all just a game? Perhaps in the beginning, they did. But after the first murder made front-page news, they had to have been fully aware of the real-world consequences, and yet, the number of users only continued to rise.
We needed to shut it down completely. More importantly, we had to unmask the operators behind the platform and determine exactly who the killer was.
And so, our undercover operation began. We meticulously made up a narrative about Giada, portraying her as a deceitful, high-class escort. We made her double life seem exceptionally cold and vicious, deliberately tailored to meet the forum’s unspoken criteria for a death sentence.
In reality, of course, Giada was no escort. She was a brilliant young officer who also happened to be a dedicated economics student, hitting the books late at night and during whatever precious free time she could get out between her shifts.
Her fiancé really was named Salvatore, and they were deeply in love. Giada was a stunning, head-turning beauty, and when she first transferred to our department, many male colleagues immediately tried to hit on her. But Giada possessed a glare that could freeze a man; she was always friendly with everyone in our team, but she shut every single one of them down simply by flashing the beautiful diamond engagement ring on her finger. The fact that she was also an awarded black belt in martial arts quickly convinced the rest of the department that she was definitely not a girl to screw with.
She had volunteered for the assignment without hesitation. Going deep undercover, she began spending her nights in luxury hotels, posing as a high-class escort, while attending university lessons during the day. The department provided her with fake designer outfits and accessories that looked identical to the real brands, and we moved her into a newly leased undercover apartment. With the expert help of our cybercrime division, we built a comprehensive digital footprint, including social media profiles and a website where clients could, in theory, review her services and book a night.
