Lana Fulmine waited in the dungeon with all the flying monster girls.

And she was waiting with all of them. They were up against fifteen pixies and the tennyo. The ghosts and wildhounds found no other surprises. Leo wanted to destroy Tuerien’s forces. A massacre, so Lana Fulmine was joined by Nina Naughty, Garnet, Alizee, Mrs. Lucina, Esclava, Paetu, Agubnamus, Isatu, Feya, and Daleitha. Phoenixes, harpies, pixies, sphinxes, thunderbirds, hippogriffs, vampires in their bat forms, and quetzalcoatls.

They wouldn’t have a chance.

Leo had prepared the dungeon. The ramps. He just had to act. He was waiting on the final scout report from the ghosts and wildhounds. Lana Fulmine and her attack force just had to wait here. The tennyo and her pixies should be right over her head. The refugees would be breaking camp.

They wouldn’t be alerted of what was going on, but soon, they would be funneled to three ramps leading down into the dungeon. Lana Fulmine’s wings fluttered. They crackled with electricity. She was nervous.

She feared some complications. What if a saint attacks us?

The dual strikes by the Saints of Light and Water filled her memory. The helplessness of flying to save her number one fan only to realize that they had to turn around to rescue the dungeon. The attack had hit them at the right moment to nearly wipe them out.

If Leo hadn’t figured out how to use a mana vein to create a teleporting patch. He could transport himself and probably a monster girl. Fuegin had brought his companion in that first meeting all those months ago.

Back when Leo had just started out. A man who seemed friendly, but the more Lana Fulmine learned of this world, the more it reminded her of the ugliness of the Hollywood system. The rot. The fester. The fake friends. A system that corrupted almost everyone that passed through it with sex, drugs, and wealth.

She’d been a whore. A well-payed whore, but nothing more. Just a piece of flesh that producers traded back and forth while she told herself it was worth it because she had millions of fans. She had all these perks. All this wealth. Homes across the world. Dresses. Jewelry.

And yet she was so much happier here. She wasn’t alone here.

“Get ready,” Leo announced through her head. The others, too.

She stared up at the ceiling. Wings flapped around her. Garnet grinned, holding a shadowy net in one hand and a big dildo in the other. She was ready to go into battle. Isatu stood beside her, the dragon-girl bouncing from foot to foot.

Alizee threw her arms in the air and shouted, “Let’s go, team! Let’s go!”

The roof shot up twenty feet and opened onto blue sky, trees around it. Lana Fulmine flapped her wings and sprang into the air with the other monster girls. She climbed out of the dungeon into a forest, leading a host of monster girls straight for the tennyo.

The tennyo gasped. Her pixies, Level One monster girls, dived for Lana Fulmine’s overwhelming attack force. The tennyo thrust out her hands. A wind laden with pink blossoms swept out and struck into the monster girls. She sent a few of them flying, but the counterattack launched back.

Bolts of lightning, balls of fire, razor-sharp feathers, blades of wind, and mighty roars.

The pixies vanished. They disintegrated beneath the onslaught, each one hit by two or three attacks. The tennyo twisted in the air, her black hair sweeping behind her. A bolt of lightning nearly clipped her. She spun around a ball of fire. She flew toward the south.

Two harpies cut her off. She hit them with blasts of winds, killing Bittaraya and Hota. But she wasn’t in the clear as two of the vampires reached her. They flashed into their human forms and grabbed her. Their pale bodies held tight, black hair fluttering behind them.

Krvi and Udel struck. They bit her and fed off her.

She screamed. Wind burst from her and threw the vampires off her. They spun through the air, but they were too light to be flung far. Rainbow light from Daleitha’s wings struck the tennyo. The mesmerizing lights distracted her.

A flaming pitchfork struck her in the back followed by a shadowy dildo that hit her in the head. The tennyo spun through the air and fell toward the forest below. She struck a tree and burst into motes. And just like that, it was over.

“Spread out and look for any dangers!” ordered Lana Fulmine as the refugees were gawking up at them.

It had begun. The soldiers had their defensive perimeter. The refugees poured down three different ramps into the dungeon. A massive queue piled up. There were so many of them. It would take a few hours to get them all through the dungeon.

And Leo was vulnerable.

Even now, monster girls were spilling out of other openings to form a perimeter. Siwang’s, Munjan’s, and Leo’s all involved. Lana Fulmine soared over the edge with the monster girls, searching for any dangers. She passed Garnet with two of the vampires behind her.

Krvi was missing.

She must not have survived being thrown off the tennyo.

Only three dead, thought Lana Fulmine. Better than expected. The pixies didn’t have a chance. The tennyo wasn’t the most dangerous of companions.

Tuerien stood at the top of the Spire watching the events on his scryer.

The upstart had massacred the pixies and tennyo. The attack had hit suddenly, and Tuerien saw why. The fool was bringing all those people into his dungeon. He wouldn’t be able to make any modifications with all of them streaming through it.

What game is this?

Part of Tuerien wanted to extend his dungeon north and spill out his own attack. The soldiers were dug in with defensive positions. Leo had his own monster girls, a lot of them, but once they died, he couldn’t bring them back to life.

Why are you making yourself this vulnerable for this rabble? thought Tuerien. The attack on the city had not been this risky. Leo had sealed his dungeon after flooding the city with his monster girls. He hadn’t even come out to fight.

He kept himself the way a dungeon builder should. But this ... What, he wanted to spare these refugees having to walk a week into his territory?

“What do you think?” Tuerien asked Acier, his first monster girl companion.

The red cap stood by him. An ex-girlfriend. Their relationship had almost worked out, but things got in the way. She formed a dagger out of steel. “Plunge the blade into his heart. We can overrun his soldiers with them. A constant flood. He’s vulnerable. Get them into the dungeon, and we’ve won.”

“And if he gets into my dungeon?” the builder asked. “Is this a bait to draw me north? He has ghosts.”

Those were a problem. They could pass through solid materials, like the exterior of his dungeon. “I feel it is,” Charbonne said. His second companion and another ex-girlfriend. They used to have such fiery fights. “This doesn’t make any sense.”

“No,” Tuerien said. He focused and cast the scrying spell. A new sensor appeared over Astovin village and... “Shit.”

There were the refugees spilling out of his dungeon hundreds of miles, looking shocked as they moved across dirt fields. They were being guided by a few lesser monster girls and other people. That was way beyond his reach in the heart of Leo’s power.

“How did he do that?” demanded Finira. His lich as well as his first crush shook her head. “That’s impossible.”

“Apparently not,” said Tuerien. “Fuck, where does he learn this stuff? That’s not how the teleportation trick works.” He had burned a mana vein to make a teleportation spot. Two points linked that he could use. He could take himself and another monster girl with him. “He just has to defend his dungeon for a short time.”

“Then we have to wait for him to attack us,” said Acier. “He will.”

“We need to turn the tables,” Tuerien said. “Have we located a suitable builder?”

“Yes,” Glace said. She was his ice companion, a lamia. They never dated, but they had a few booty calls. She slithered up. “I think we have.”

“Show me on the map,” Tuerien said. He’d have to burn another mana vein, but he had one to spare.

King Thanitis watched as his people flowed through the tunnels. The last of them were pouring in, men who had survived the horrors of the square. In the air, Leo’s monster girls were circling. King Thanitis waited for Lord Leo’s orders.

He stood at the remains of the camp. His loyal soldiers were arrayed out before them, Knight-General Arthemar riding about on his horse to keep a watch on any surprises. Not that he expected any. It seemed Tuerien wouldn’t contest them. No force of monster girls had come to attack them.

Bitterness filled the king’s mouth. He felt like such a fraud for letting his people suffer like this. For allowing Tuerien to conquer them. He had been off playing king instead of being king, and now ... How many were dead?

“Pull back your soldiers, King Thanitis,” Lord Leo ordered.

The king nodded to a trumpeter beside him. The young man blew the horn. Three blasts to signal the orderly withdrawal into the tunnel.

The king turned on his horse with his personal guard and rode toward the central tunnel. He descended down it, hoofs ringing, and came to the teleportation circle. It wasn’t necessary for him to use it, Lord Leo could move him and his army around the dungeon by his strange power. It was an unusual situation, but...

“Dame Kassie, can you transport me to the refugees?” he asked the halfling.

“Why not,” she said, pulling out a crystal from her pocket. “Still has power in it.”

A piece of a shattered Void Crystal. The source of a dungeon builder’s power. It allowed her to power her spells without using her own life-force. Every mage carried one or two. He trotted onto the magic circle along with his guards.

“Asud Gu,” she said. The halfling waved to them as the light engulfed them.
