As the months passed, despite their active and thriving careers, parenting became the center of everyone’s lives in this unique family structure.

The women had settled among their living arrangements. Kristen and Sydney still lived together comfortably at Sydney’s condo. In fact, Kristen had chosen not to renew her apartment lease, which Sydney had actually been pleased to hear. She and Kristen had developed a close friendship within their shared living space, and over time it made less and less sense for Kristen to go back to her apartment. Julius and Bella were growing up beautifully and already behaving like siblings.

Julius just celebrated his first birthday the previous weekend. Everyone had gathered at Megan’s house for the celebration including Pamela Swanson, Deborah Moss, and Jalen’s brother Jamal. The birthday featured Jalen manning the grill outside, plenty of different dishes prepared by the mothers, several baked cakes, and a smash cake for Julius to dig his hands into.

Isabella’s birthday was coming up soon, and Kristen was already finalizing plans, determined to make it perfect.

Rachel, Karla, and Heidi were all still living at Megan’s house and had developed a deep comfort level with each other as they’d integrated their lives. Heidi was now working with Karla at her practice as an independent contractor attorney so she could get her feet wet in the legal world.

Jessica and Chrysti each chose to remain in their own homes, but they would visit the others with their respective child at least once per week. Jessica was still finding her footing in her evolving music career while simultaneously raising Joy. Her album was coming along well.

Chrysti, who was now fully embracing her role in Jalen’s life as one of the eight mothers, had been adjusting to raising Adrian while still living on her own. Despite that, she looked forward to her visits to Sydney’s condo and Megan’s house.

The eight mothers relied on each other more than they expected, whether it was for late-night feedings, advice, or just a shoulder to lean on. They frequently visited each other with their toddlers both because they liked seeing each other and because it was very helpful to relieve some pressure.

On one particular evening, all the women gathered at Megan’s house, which had slowly become the entire group’s unofficial meeting place. Jalen was given “the night off” so to speak. He was back a Sydney’s condo catching up on sleep.

“I can’t believe I’m the one saying this,” Kristen said, bouncing Bella on her knee, “but ... I think I’m coming around to Sydney’s idea.

“Which idea?” Heidi asked as she breast fed Kayla.

“That we should all live together.”

The women all paused for a moment.

Then Sydney spoke up smiling. “I mean, it makes sense, doesn’t it? We’re already rotating taking care of each other’s kids. Why keep making it harder?”

Karla, now fully immersed into her new high-profile legal career, exhaled before responding. “This wouldn’t be simple. We’d need a huge complex to accommodate us comfortably. It might even need to be built from the ground up. That’ll take a lot of time and a hell of a financial commitment.”

“True, but if we can build it, I think it could work,” Megan chimed.

“I mean, let’s be honest, we see each other all the time anyway,” Heidi said cheerfully. “Why not have a home big enough to actually live comfortably?”

“Before Devin was born, I would have said ‘hell not’ to this idea,” Rachel said as Devin sat in her lap with his mouth on a toy. “But honestly, having y’all around to help has made my life SO much easier. If we can make absolutely sure that we’ll all have adequate space ... I could see myself getting on board.”

“Jalen definitely needs this too,” Sydney added. “He’s been running himself ragged trying to give all of us time and still run his construction company. I really think this would make things so much easier for everyone.”

Jessica, still the newest addition to the fold, smiled. “Y’all already had this whole polygamous commune vibe going on before I even got here. You just didn’t realize it.”

“Does that mean, you’re open to it?” Heidi asked Jessica.

Jessica sighed. “Am I convinced it’s the best move for me? Not exactly. But ... I do think it would help Jalen. I see how exhausted he gets, and I feel for him. Plus, my baby loves seeing her brothers and sisters.” She gave Joy a quick kiss on her head. “So, for those reasons ... Yes, I’d be open to it. But I echo Rachel’s sentiments in that we would need to be certain that we’ll have enough space both communal and private.”

“Yay! This is so exciting!” Sydney said gleefully.

“Hold on,” Karla interjected. “Chrysti? You’ve been a bit quiet over there. Care to chime in?”

Chrysti didn’t speak right away. Adrian was sound asleep next to her in his carrier with his pacifier plugged into his mouth. She smiled at him knowing full well that her feelings could make or break this whole idea.

“I’ve always been an independent person,” she said, finally speaking up. “The idea of sharing a home with eight other people and their children goes against every fiber of my being.”

The room remained silent sensing she had more to say, with only sounds being the occasional cooing or whining from one of the toddlers.

“But ... so did loving Jalen. So did becoming a part of this situation. So did embracing all of you the way I have.” She turned to look at the other women. “And despite all those things going against every rational fiber of my being, I did them anyway. And I’m so thankful that I did.”

She was smiling warmly at all of them now. The others were smiling back.

“We’re grateful you did too,” Heidi said.

Chrysti gave a deep exhale. “I’ll do it. With adequate spacing, of course. Also, I’m going to need my own fridge, a room to workout in, and ideally, a garden so I can plant my favorite spices.

The others laughed.

“While we’re listing things, I’d like an office myself,” Heidi said.

“Okay, okay, okay,” Kristen said, waving her hands but still laughing slightly with the others. “We can figure out amenities and other needs later. Let’s just settle whether or not we’re going to do this. Or at least see if we can. All in favor?”

Slowly, one by one hands raised around the room. After a moment, everyone looked around and saw that all eight hands were raised.

“Okay then,” Karla said with an exhale. “I guess the next step is to tell our dear baby daddy.”

“Fuck it. Let’s just call him now,” Rachel said, pulling out her phone. “I’ll put him on speaker.”

“He’s probably asleep, isn’t he?” Jessica said with an eyebrow raised.

“He leaves his phone on ring, so he doesn’t miss our calls,” Kristen said with a smirk. “He’ll wake up.

“Aw, but shouldn’t we just let him sleep?” Heidi asked. But she couldn’t hide her excitement from potentially getting Jalen’s answer now.

“He’ll be fine. He can just go back to sleep after,” Chrysti said.

Rachel pressed the call button on her phone and put it on speaker. The women all leaned in and listened as it rang.

It rang once. Twice. Three times, seemingly about to go to voicemail. Then suddenly...

“What up, Rach,” Jalen’s voice came groggily through the speaker.

“Babe, wake up,” Rachel said animatedly. “We’re having an important conversation over here, and we need your opinion.”

The sound of rustling sheets and the bed slightly creaking came through the speaker implying that Jalen was sitting up in bed.

“About what?” he finally said, sounding a little annoyed from being woken up. “What ‘chall talking bout over there?

“The eight of us have been talking, and we’ve all agreed that we want to see if living together can work. What do you think of that?”

There was a moment of silence. The other women all leaned in towards Rachel a little more. Then Jalen finally answered.

“Wait ... you all actually want to live together?”

“We all want to SEE if we can make it work, but yes,” Rachel replied. “What do you think?”

“You got Chrysti and Jessica on board with this too?” Jalen asked sounding like he wasn’t quite believing what he was hearing.

Rachel looked at Jessica and Chrysti. Both of them nodded. “Yes. They’re on board,” she said into the phone.

Another pause.

“Well shit. I didn’t expect that ... but ... I mean that’s cool.”

“Okay, but what do YOU think?” Rachel said again, sounding more impatient.

“I think...” Jalen said slowly. “I think that if we can find or build a big enough place then it can work. I’m definitely down to do it if y’all are all sure about it. Based on what I know about y’all, though, this place will need to be huge to accommodate all your needs. This will have to be a whole complex, not just a house. We’ll likely have to build this from the ground up.”

Rachel looked around the room and there was a collection of nods from the others.

Kristen came closer to the phone and spoke into it. “Hey Jalen, it’s Kristen. We can talk about the financial feasibility later, but just spit balling here based on your knowledge, all of our needs, and the children’s needs, do you think it could be done? You, the eight of us, and the children all under one roof comfortably?”

There was another pause on the phone. Then after a few moments, Jalen spoke again.

“Just thinking about it off the top of my head, we’re talkin close to twenty bedrooms, a gym, a massive kitchen, possibly two, each of you having a whole suite for yourselves, a huge yard, a garage big enough for all of our cars...”

The women all waited for his answer.

“If I have to give an answer now ... I’d say yes it can be done.”

There was a collection of silent cheers and celebratory gestures from around the room.

“Okay great!” Rachel said.

“But there’s a lot to consider y’all,” Jalen reminded. “A LOT. And we haven’t even begun to talk about what this will cost and how that cost will be applied to the group.”

“We’ll figure all that out down the,” Rachel said. “We just wanted to know if it’s possible and if you’re on board.”

“Well, the answer to both is yes. Practically speaking,” Jalen said.

“Thanks, Babe. Go back to sleep. Love you.”

“Love you, Jalen!” the rest of them called to the phone.

“Love y’all.” Jalen replied before Rachel ended the call.

Rachel had always been hungry for more in her career. She didn’t just want to be another sports reporter, she wanted to be the best.

For years, she had put in the work, grinding away at WSB-TV, doing the usual sideline reporting for high school and college sports, and covering small-time rec league games which, ironically, was how she met Jalen.

A year ago, when Rachel was still wrestling with self-doubt, Jalen had told her:

“Rachel, you’re a natural. You’ve got the knowledge, the charisma, the look. You just need to put yourself out there, and if TV won’t give you the space you deserve, create your own.”

And that’s exactly what she had done. Her blog, “The Rachel Report”, had taken off, thanks to her deep knowledge of the game, her charisma, and her sharp takes.

Her YouTube channel where she posted her podcast exploded, gaining over a million subscribers in just a year. People constantly shared and reposted her clips all over social media and her exposure only grew helped by people who followed her reporting locally and those who recognized her from her college playing days.

Basketball fans loved her insight, her humor, and her ability to break down the game like a pro. She had even gotten interviews with a couple of players during her podcasts as she covered the league in a way that was considered fresh and exciting.

Then one day, a call came.

Rachel had just finished recording an episode of her podcast when her phone buzzed.

It was her agent, Priscilla Culver, with whom she began working with a few months ago since endorsement deals became a factor in her career.

“Hey Priscilla.”

“Rachel. I just got off the phone with the Head of Media for the Atlanta Hawks. I’ll cut to the chase. They want you covering the Hawks. Full-time. Officially.”

Rachel almost dropped the phone. “Wait ... what?”

Priscilla laughed. “You’ve built something amazing, girl. Your coverage is some of the best, and the way you connect with fans? It’s exactly what they need. They want you on their team if you want the job. They want you to come in for a formal interview later this week, but he told me on the low that it’s a formality at this point.”

Rachel could barely process the words. This was it. Her dream job.

“Yes! Absolutely!”

“Great!” Priscilla replied. “I’ll let them know. And hey, congratulations, Rachel. You’ve earned this.”

That night, Rachel ran straight into Jalen’s arms the second she saw him coming through the door of Megan’s house.

“The Atlanta Hawks called! They want me to cover them full time!”

Jalen caught her mid-jump, lifting her off the ground. “Holy shit! For real?! That’s dope, Rachel!”

He spun her around as she laughed, tears forming in her eyes. He had believed in her before she even believed in herself.

Later that night, Rachel sat with Jalen on the back porch, with Devin sleeping peacefully in her arms, she whispered, “You changed my life, you know that?”

Jalen smiled, kissing her forehead. “Nah, Rach. You changed your own life. I just reminded you what you were capable of.”

Jalen planned a special night for the eight women in his life, and he never did anything halfway. This moment, the one he had been building toward for over a year, had to be perfect.

He had arranged everything down to the finest detail. Deborah, his incredible mother, was at Megan’s house along with three assistants that he had personally hired to help watch over their eight beautiful children. His mother, Deborah, would also be there with them to make sure everything was okay.

Tonight was for them. The Eight. The women he loved that changed his life and stood by him despite all odds. Tonight, he was going to honor them.

That evening, the women all arrived at Piedmont Park, dressed to the nines. Every single one of them looked stunning.

Sydney in a deep navy gown, her blond hair cascading effortlessly. Kristen in a sleek emerald-green dress that hugged her curves perfectly. Megan in a bold red ensemble, exuding confidence and passion. Rachel in a black dress with silver accents, embodying strength and resilience. Karla in a timeless white dress, elegant as ever. Heidi in a soft lavender gown, looking both powerful and graceful. Chrysti in a deep wine-colored dress, her presence magnetic. Finally, Jessica wore a shimmering gold dress, her signature stage allure shining through. All of them wore some variation of high heels on their feet.

When they finally saw Jalen, standing at the center of the park’s scenic overlook at the gazebo, their eyes widened because laid out in front of him, resting on a beautifully arranged table under the soft glow of string lights, were eight small velvet boxes.

They all gasped and gathered around.

Jalen took a deep breath, his heart pounding as they all stood in front of him. He knew that he couldn’t legally marry them all. Georgia law prevented that. So, he was going to do the next best thing.

He finally spoke. “This past year has been the most insane, challenging, and life-changing year of my life, but through all of it ... every single one of you stood by me. You all trusted me, believed in me, and most importantly, you loved me. I know this situation is anything but normal, but what we have is real, and it’s ours. I love each and every one of you, with all that I am, and I want to spend my life with only the eight of you.”

“Only the eight of us,” Megan repeated, which made them all laugh.

Once they all calmed down, Jalen exhaled as he looked at all of them, the mothers of his children and the loves of his life.

“So, I don’t care what the law says. I don’t care what society thinks. I want to make this commitment to you. Forever. Will you all ... choose me forever?”

One by one, he opened each small box, revealing a stunning ring, each unique to the woman it belonged to. The women were speechless.

Tears welled up in Sydney’s eyes as she grinned. Megan placed a hand over her mouth, completely overwhelmed. Kristen swallowed hard, trying to fight back emotion. Rachel let out a half-laugh, half-sob, completely undone by the moment. Karla, always composed, actually gasped softly. Heidi wiped at her cheeks, her smile never fading. Chrysti nodded rapidly as happy tears welled up in her eyes as well. Finally, Jessica, the final piece of the puzzle, whispered, “Yes. A thousand times yes.”

One by one, Jalen placed a ring on each of their fingers, and as the city lights of Atlanta sparkled in the distance, Jalen held them all. His Eight. His forever.

The moment all the rings were on their fingers, the women swarmed Jalen all at once, each taking turns giving him a big kiss. There was no hesitation, reservation, or uncertainty. Each of them fully embraced what this meant and what they meant to each other.

Sydney was the first to grab his face and plant a deep, loving kiss on his lips.

Then Megan, still slightly overwhelmed but utterly in love, followed with a passionate kiss of her own making sure to include some tongue.

Kristen cupped his cheeks, letting her lips linger against his, whispering a soft, “I love you.”

Rachel grinned through her tears and kissed him like she had been waiting for this moment forever.

Karla melted into him as her lips met his, her hands gently cradling his jaw.

Heidi, with her usual fiery energy, pulled him in close and kissed him in a way that made sure he’d remember it.

Chrysti kissed him deeply, completely giving herself to the moment.

Finally, Jessica kissed him slow and deliberately, savoring the feeling of truly choosing him.

By the time they were all done, Jalen had eight different marks of lipstick or gloss on his mouth. He stood there, dazed, his lips still tingling from the sheer force of their affection.

“Damn...” He exhaled, slightly breathless. The women all laughed, a shared moment of pure joy.

“Anyone else feeling really ... I don’t know ... riled up right now?” Sydney said.

“I’m just gonna say it. I really want to bang my fiancé right now.” Heidi said mischievously.

“Get in line.” Rachel actually said laughing.

“Ladies ... maybe we should all take our fiancé back to my penthouse and show him our ... love and appreciation...” Jessica said, smiling.

Everyone knew exactly what she meant and damn it, they were all game.

Jalen stared at the eight mischievous, beautiful women. All of them were wearing their rings, and all of them were giving him that look. This was insane, and yet there was absolutely no way he was going to say no to this.

Jessica smiled at Jalen’s stunned silence.

“Oh, what’s wrong? You scared?” she teased, stepping up close. Her fingers lightly traced the buttons of his dress shirt.

Sydney, further instigating, leaned in close on his other side. “Jalen’s not scared. He’s just realizing that he might not survive the night.”

Kristen laughed. “We should probably pace ourselves, ladies. We do need him alive to help raise these babies.”

“Eh, worst-case scenario, he dies happy,” Rachel said smirking.

Karla crossed her arms with an amused smile. “I don’t think this man is turning down a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Jalen finally found his voice, swallowing hard as he looked at all of them.

“Jessica, your place, huh?” he finally said.

Jessica gave him a slow, deliberate wink. “That’s right, Baby. Hope you’re up for a little ... celebration.”

Heidi grinned, taking his hand. “Enough talking and more moving.”

And just like that, the eight of them grabbed their man, and walked out with him together.

The elevator ride up to Jessica’s penthouse was pure electricity. Jalen stood in the center, surrounded by his eight stunning fiancées.

Each of them had their own unique fire: Sydney’s confidence, Kristen’s elegance, Megan’s boldness, Rachel’s competitive energy, Karla’s sharp intensity, Heidi’s teasing charm, Chrysti’s smoldering sensuality, and Jessica’s intoxicating allure. Jalen felt like a king, and tonight, he knew that his queens were about to devour him.

When the elevator doors opened, Jessica took the lead, stepping out first, her heels clicking against the marble floor of her penthouse. She turned back, locking eyes with Jalen.

“Welcome, fiancé.”

Jalen barely had time to react before Sydney grabbed his tie, pulling him forward into a kiss that was hot, deep, and possessive. He wasn’t even finished kissing Sydney before Rachel stole his lips next, with her hands tugging at his jacket in a hungry and demanding way. Then Kristen took her turn. Hers was softer but just as passionate.

One by one, they all had their moment with him. Then Jessica beckoned them all to head upstairs to the master bedroom.

By the time Jessica led them all into the bedroom, Jalen was already drowning in their love, their touch, and their bodies pressing against him. From that point on it was pure, unfiltered chaos.

Lips. Hands. Heat. Laughter. Moans. Soft gasps. Clothing hitting the floor. Eight beautiful, seductive women, each wanting their turn with their man. Jalen lost track of time. It was sensory overload. It was a masterpiece of love and pleasure intertwined.
