“Verily at the first Chaos came to be, but next wide-bosomed Earth, the ever-sure foundation of all.”

- Hesiod, The Theogony (730-700 BCE)

In the beginning of this Realm, there was nothing. What would later be designated as “The Big Bang” by scientists was more an eruption of light and life. Progenitors of immense power came into existence as overwhelming forces. They shared a single world that would later be called Earth.

Rather than start a conflict, these Progenitors agreed to create boundaries in this Realm’s world. Each would govern all the facets in those areas, from the sun to the sky to the wind. Names like Ymir, Chaos, Atum, Pangu, Ometeotl, Tangaroa, and others would be used later to describe some of these beings.

In the land that would someday be called Greece, literal Chaos reigned. Chaos was both a near-formless being, as well as one who embodied both of the sexes that would later spawn from this Great Progenitor. Later, some would say, Chaos was “The Nothingness from which All Else Sprang.”

Chaos would have five children. Erebus, the personification of darkness and shadow, was the first. Next was Gaia, Mother of the land of Greece and the Titans. Eros was the being of desire. Tartarus, the chaotic being, was the first ruler of the Underworld. Last was Mother Night, Nyx, the first of the Chthonic Deities, also called the gods of the Underworld.

When Chaos found that Gaia wanted more from existence than a parent or siblings, the Progenitor blessed The Earth Primordial. As this new being would be the last being to be brought into creation by the touch of Chaos, he would be called Ouranos the Last Primordial.

Before mankind reigned in the mortal Realm of Greece, these Primordials walked the Earth. A great conflict for leadership nearly broke out amongst these beings. Tartarus felt himself deserving to rule over the other Primordials.

However, upon seeing this, Chaos decided to bless Ouranos, the son of Gaia, to be the ruler over all of the deities of Greece. To this end, a crown was made from the pure essence of creation. When the work of rulership was done, Chaos went into a domain for themselves to think and ponder their creation.

Ouranos was a giant, but his qualities were similar to the men who would come later. Ouranos had white hair like the clouds and a flowing beard that crackled with the lightning he commanded. One day, his grandson, Zeus, would be seen as a lesser imitation of the Sky Lord. Ouranos ruled with fairness but a sense of entitlement.

When the time came for the Last Primordial to take a wife, he chose his Mother, Gaia, finally correcting the loneliness that she had.

Her bountiful form was as beautiful as it was monumental. She was tall, earthy, with hair of vines and leaves. Though her lips were made of cracked bark, her body’s shape was as feminine as any woman.

From their union came all of Olympus.

Their marriage would birth a realm of divinities unlike any other in all the lands. This is the story of Olympus. Though it was just beginning, it would have ripples through this and every cosmos for all time.
