It is a new era, women are started doing 'men's jobs' in WW1 and many were not keen to just push that genie back in the bottle. Boating on the Broads was safe (relatively), easy (mostly) and fun; why should the men have all the fun? All female groups started to book boats; mostly they didn't look like this all female group.
