Just when you thought that storiesonline was a safe haven from the mean-spirited screed that passes for conservative "humor," here comes Andrew Michaels and "My Daughter's Awakening."
Judging from his first two stories, Michaels sees the site as a good place to post right-wing jokes that are making the rounds on the Internet, as "flash" fiction. I'm not saying that Michaels wasn't the originator of this story. I'm just saying I've heard this one before. A quick Google search came up with a version of it on the Outside the Beltway web site from three and a half years ago, and even that one was posted under the heading "An Old Story."
Judging by the early scores, there are plenty of people who enjoy this sort of "Haw, haw, liberals bad, conservatives good" sort of thing. It's essentially simplifying complicated issues in a way that props up the attitudes of a certain segment of society. Fine. Read away. It's a free country. Seriously, it really is, even with liberals running things . . .
