This is, hands down, my favorite story on the site. I am not a fan of BDSM, for the most part, but this story handles it so well!
James, our main character, is probably one of the most unlikeable kids I've read about. He's spoiled, selfish, short-tempered, and ungrateful. So when, for his birthday, he receives a gift that is not only not what he wanted, but that he is completely unable to understand or appreciate, he throws a tantrum. That's right. The story basically opens with him throwing a tantrum over not getting a new toy for his birthday.
By the end of the same story, James is a pretty thoughtful, mature, and, at times, badass character. He's genuinely very likeable. This amazing transformation takes place over the course of a very detailed, if unusual, story.
As mentioned in the description, this is written in the future. If I recall (which I may not), it's something like 100 years into the future. Oddities arising from this time gap are acknowledged during the story, and, while not all of them are explained with historical textbook-level detail, they are explained sufficiently that I found the world believable. All things in the story's world adhere to its rules, and nothing jumps out as seeming too implausible.
Technically, this story is about as good as they come, though there are definitely some grammar errors and typos.
Stroke, hm. There's a fair amount of sex scenes, and, I would argue that they're all integral to the story in one way or another. They're well-written and fairly engrossing, but their strength lies in the connections between the characters involved and not in the events occurring. Rephrased, they're good because the reader has bonded with the characters and not because there's a cock disappearing into an orifice somewhere.
On some levels, I hope the author writes a sequel some day. At the same time, it seems to me that the story is perfect as it stands now, and I'm okay with that as well. Read it.

As the author name alludes to, this is a romantic story with an S/M twist. The story centers around a sci-fi setting sometime in the future where people are segregated by classes. The protagonist is from the highest class and because of this has certain roles that he is expected to fulfill. This story revolves around James' coming of age(16 years of age). James' growth begins as he starts to understand what it truly means to become an adult and the increased responsibility as well as freedoms afforded to him.
This story for me was very well written. The interesting society is very detailed. There are obvious flaws in this society and Old Softy explains what they are as well as some of the possible reasons for the situation.
In terms of the sex, it is very well written especially the sexual development of the main character. It is a great touch to the story unlike some where it is placed there without a purpose. The sex in this story propels the plot and is integral for the development of James.
