Its been a while since I read a story I have to review. This is one. Without any spoilers as the blurb says, its about a boy's senior year in high school. For a relatively normal boy and man he has a big impact on his class and on the girls who become his girl-friends, whether for a short time or much longer. Please do yourself a favor and read this one. If you don't like it, I will give up my reviewer credential.

The plot is nothing extra-ordinary, it works well but there aren't that many surprises. I am going to give it an 8, a B. Technical is also fine. I didn't see anything wrong, maybe I should give it more than a 9, an A, but I try to save tens for stories that blow me away. Appeal, now there is the ten for this story. Its been a long time since my high-school days. This story may treat those days with more rose colored glasses than I remember them, on the other hand, I wasn't the hero of this story. If you can identify with him, this story will take its place on your top ten, or at least your top 100 stories list.

Plot: 8 | Technical Quality: 9 | Appeal to Reviewer: 10

What a ride! The last year of High School is memorable to a lot of folks. Here we have Joe ordinary and Miss too cool for school hooking up and doing wonderful things. A sense of self worth, right and wrong and a good dose of common sense guide John through what turns out to be a great last year of H.S. We have the usual B.S. amd petty rivalries but these are NOT the focus. They take place but only defines what the hero is going through.
Some will call this boring to the extreme because it does NOT have wall to wall cheerleader sex. Sorry but that just ain't real life. What this does have is well developed characters each with their share of flaws (none fatal), a believable hero and people around him. If only we could all have a Senior year like this.
Good read.

Plot: 9 | Technical Quality: 9 | Appeal to Reviewer: 9

This is an exceptional story of a boy growing up into an adult.

Lellan McLemore did a great job of getting inside John's mind, bringing the hopes and fears and discovery of life out for us to watch him grow.

Not too many reviews mention the editor. A good working relationship with the editor can make a tremendous difference at the end. I think Jo Beller should get a share of the credit for helping to craft a fine story.
