This is the middle story and the longest of five short stories about a family with two girls and their children's friends. The heroine is the younger girl.
I was surprised not to see scores listed for any of them. The story let me vote "very good" and indicated the total score was over 6, but not as high as 6.5. I am bad with remembering numbers, lets say it was 6.3 something. Old Fart is an accomplished story smith. He has written good longer stories. Some are no longer on SOL because he tried self publishing them.
If you are in the mood for a holiday, family centered feel good story with some sex, based on this one, I recommend the series to you. Its set at Christmas, so the theme is seasonal. Other stories in the series are set at other holidays.
The plot is ok, supports the story without a lot of surprises, twists or turns. I didn't see any technical quality issues, its a nine because nobody is perfect. I seem to remember Old Fart has been an editor for other authors, he knows about things that need to be fixed, and being your own editor is not like being your own lawyer.
I already discussed appeal to reviewer, its an eight. Six is a C, seven is a B, eight is an A. Occasional nines are better than an A, call it an A plus. I try hard not to give more than one ten a month.
