All the other slaves are getting their masters expensive gifts like cars and expensive jewelry, but poor Kristen does not have the money to get her master a real anything expensive. In fact, much of the short story is spent emphasizing just how poor Kristen is. Still, it is Christmas.
This story is short and sweet. It brought a smile to my face and will probably bring one to yours, too.
