What a little gem! A wonderful scene of rising emotions, of fear, anticipation, excitement, dread, of ache, relief, disappointment, of hope.
Michael & Phoebe have crafted a story that starts small, builds quickly, escalates to a surprising climax, and descends rapidly. An interesting exercise for a writer, but what is most wonderful for us is how they take us along with Lauren. She's the one tied, spread-eagle on the bed, blindfolded, gagged—voluntarily submitting to pay off a lost bet. But Michael & Phoebe have created a vision where the reader is drawn into Lauren's world and her experiences, into her fear, anguish, even her disappointment.
Read it. It'll take only a few minutes. But the image will stay with you for a long time.
