Reviewed:

This is the second instalment of "A Golfer's Dream," and it is every bit as good as the first. Our hero, Dave MacDonald seems to like to do everything in two's - two sports he is good at, and, his sex life is hardly ever with just one partner at a time.

For those looking for a stroke story, you'll find plenty in here to get your juices going, but don't be surprised if you get caught up in the plot.

Another area where the author seems to like his twos is the story itself. Partly truth and partly fiction. For non Canadians, no, Canada does not have more than ten provinces, which made me wonder if the author was Canadian or just someone who had visited a few times. (I'm still wondering.)

On the reality side, we have a good story about the financial hardships of playing sports in Canada and regretfully it is closer to the truth than many would believe. Sadly, when the author writes about hockey, the truth is very abundant and this took away somewhat from my enjoyment when I read about the intentional fighting and damage inflicted. While not an avid golfer myself, his depiction of the hero's main passion, hence the title of the trilogy, is very true as well and unlike the real fiction of the story, in golf, the trials and tribulations he faces are very real.

More with the fiction are his girlfriends and other lovers. Big breasts must be a personal fetish as all his partners seem overly endowed.

It's hard at times to remember that at this point of his life the hero is only 16, and as such faces common problems associated with that age group.

I found both the first book and this second book in the life of Dave to be riveting and could not stop reading till I had finished it, and I look forward to the third of the trilogy.

The only real downside of the book is the blending of the truth and fiction. As the hero, when he is not involved in sports, he sometimes appears too superhuman as compared to the angst and anxiety ridden character who plays both hockey and golf. Contractions in dialog would have helped me enjoy the story a little more, but it was a small price to pay for a very enjoyable read!
