In "Dana", we have the story about a man who has been best friends with a woman for 6 years, and his finally taking a step that gets him the girl.
The sex in the story is an intense and romantic encounter. It is somewhat spoiled by an attempt to be a little too eloquent about it, in my opinion. This may be the first and only story I've seen the word "mucuerically" used to describe part of a sex act. That damped some of the stroke factor for me, especially this word, since I believe the word is badly mispelled.
The plot itself is pretty good. A pretty standard 'boy long desires girl that doesn't notice him as anything other than a friend' story.
Technically, there are quite a few mispellings, and other little things that kept nagging at me.
I've always remembered this story, because except for the consumation of their relationship to lovers from friends, it is eerily similiar to one I had with a wonderful young woman. From the 'best friends but not lovers' all the way to the 'she has herpes from a close male friend that didn't tell her he was infected until she contracted it from him' angle, the story struck a major chord with me.
I would like this story more if the author had been a little less flowery, and had cleaned up the spelling errors and the suck. As it stands, I will always be fond of it, but I can't call it a great story. A good one, but not great.
