A true story about after becoming knowledgeable about "stock cars" the author puts it to use on the Track. Set, I am guessing, in the mid 1990's, in one of the lower levels of NASCAR. It is a fun snapshot of the era, and the authors experiences; told with brevity and wry wit.

Plot: 6 it's brevity is a virtue, making me want more.

Technical: 9 I didn't notice any errors. Use of slang might not be understandable to all. Racing cars is international, but there is a "NASCAR Culture" in parts of the USA. Tracks used by the top professional drivers once or twice a year, are also used by regional and local drivers one or more weekends a month.

Appeal: 9 I enjoy NASCAR, and I have been to a number of different events at various locations across the USA. I really enjoyed myself, and I find this story completely believable. There are a plethora of racing levels, from "suped-up Go Carts" driven by tweens and young teens, to Karts that are crafted for a particular type of racing, from almost street legal cars, to vehicles that may have once been used at the top level of NASCAR. Many drivers are in their fifties and sixties, and a few even older. There is a lot going on at many events, beyond the races on the track; some events may last 3 days or more.
