I love it when a story grabs me from the first page. While not too long compared to other stories, it is still a bit more than I like to read with my short attention span. However, I was sad when it ended. The ending does promise a sequal, so I'm satisfied.
What would be the impact on modern-day Britain if a longboat full of Vikings suddenly appeared? Fortunately, the time-traveling mariners landed on a deserted island populated only by British and American armed forces who were using it for training.
Pretty much everything in the story seemed plausible, with the possible exception of the anomaly that brought the Vikings forward 900 years into the future. The author even acknowledges the many resources who helped him make the story authentic, including the British and American military.
I recommend you set aside a day or so to immerse you in the story, because I don't think you are going to want to leave it except to maybe freshen your drink of choice.
I did give it perfect scores across the board despite there being loads of other time travel stories on SoL. I saw no errors that detracted from my enjoyment of the story, and as I said...it grabbed me from the start and never let go.

Who would have thought that an SOL author, even one as talented as "rlfj" could write a terrific story about a Viking longship and its people being transported from the late 9th Century to the 21st Century, and their experiences upon arrival?
But Rollie Lawson (aka "rlfj") has, and it's excellent! After reading Chapter 4 on SOL, I bought the entire book on Bookapy, and it's a great read. The characters are wonderfully appealing and go through some interesting conflicts. It kept my interest throughout, and I wanted to know what would happen next. So I read it from start to finish in one setting.
I also can't believe the amount of research the author must have done to be able to produce this book, and even more amazed at the work he put into producing conversations in (purportedly) Old Norse - a long dead language - and their English translations.
I gave it a "9" for "Plot" because of a couple of minor plot points that didn't work for me, but that's just a nit. I'm totally happy with purchasing the book as well as supporting SOL so that we have access to interesting books like this that capture our imagination.
