The Seventh Sense is a great story that Lubrican wrote in an unusual format. It works well for the story though. The Seventh Sense is a (mostly) realistic story.
The first chapters are a little hard to get through, but as Lubrican promises with the editorial notes, it becomes easier after that. I found it hard to put the story down and I had a great time reading it.
Plot wise the story had a fresh take on a well-established genre. I enjoyed how there weren't over a dozen characters introduced, but that Lubrican mostly stuck the two main characters. It was fun to read how ethics played a big role in the story as well as actions having consequences. Bobby stuck true to his nature and was well written. On a technical side I spotted a few flaws, but they hardly distracted from reading.
If you enjoy mind control stories then this one is a must read, it gives a new perspective on the genre.

When I was a teenager, I read ALL of Robert A. Heinlein's books. You may wonder what this has to do with "The Seventh Sense", by Lubrican.
What I remember about Heinlein's books is that, if you could accept one outlandish, impossible principle, the rest of the story was very believable because it was simply human nature.
And so it is for "The Seventh Sense". The premise is outside the realm of reasonability, but if you can accept it and just go with the flow, the journey is immensely interesting, with great characters who grow and develop, and you care about what happens to them.
Fortunately, this story was written by one of the most prolific and proficient writers on SOL. Bob has written silly stories, sexy stories about all kinds of situations (he particularly likes pregnancy stories), and even stories that I think of as serious literature, though he might not describe them that way. Read "Flossie's Revenge", one of his earlier stories to see what I mean.
What they all have in common is great characters and interesting situations that make the stories totally enjoyable reading.
You may have noted that I have not described the plot of this story. Tough! Read it yourself and enjoy it. Its problem is the same one that every other great author on this site has - it's not long enough! (just kidding, Bob - this is another great job; loved the story, and can't wait to read your next one)
