1: Aftermath by Al Steiner This was the first story I read on SOL. And it hooked me from the start. Mr. Steiner's works are the goalposts I see if I use binoculars to look down the road I have started down.
2: A Fresh Start by rlfj A crazy good do-over with the most amazing detail
4: Human Phoenix by Refusenik This story and its sequel are the 2 stories i have reread the most on this site. Human Phoenix and Human Man. Can't recommend them enough.
5: In the Navy by Argon Are you as in Love with the Romantic Idea of 18th Century Military Ships as i am? Despite the fact that i can get seasick in a bath tub I still Love these stories and this one by Argon and the spin offs are wonderful examples of That Romaticism done well. You fall in love with the characters and the ships.
6: Intemperance by Al Steiner Amazing world building and great charcters. I can't play an instrument or sing a note without someone calling the cops and i admit this was the last of Mr. Steiners works that i read and all i can say is My Loss. Once i started i could not stop and i just devoured these books. The only advantage to starting late was i had so many books to read in this long ongoing epic story. Alas, I like all his Intemperance fans are now waiting patiently(ok so its MOSTLY patiently :))for the next book in the series to come out.
