Well, my first attempt is now submitted for posting.
I want to thank all of you for your input and words of encouragement. I will compile the corrections and make another grammar pass. along with fixing my continuity error.
There is a space for more stories, but I must work out the conflict.
With a lifetime of future knowledge, it would be too easy to have life just happen with no barriers to the MC's baser emotions and motives.
Any further stories will be finished before posting. I don't regret posting the first 6 chapters to try to force myself to finish what I started given the graveyard of 1 to 3 chapter stories in my Libre folder but now that I see that nothing bad happened when I clicked post hopefully I can do it again in the future
Continuity, continuity. I have screwed up the MC age/grade combo. When I make the final spelling pass I'll fix this error as well but for now, just forgive if you can't forget. I messed this up even though I have an age/grade chart written out and taped to my desk for this exact reason.
I never did get Grammarly to work in Libre. If I spend any more time on it I'll never get another chapter out. I have copied/pasted it to Wordpad corrected then uploaded a Grammarly-approved version of chapter 8. After it posts on the site if it formats correctly I'll use this method going forward. Grammarly however had no opinion on the story quality itself so I am on my own in that regard :)
I considered asking Chatgpt to critique the story but a dressing down from our AI Overlords might have proven to be one cut too many
With each chapter posted and each hour spent planning how to get from here to there in the story my Awe and Respect for the long form Authors on this site has increased exponentially.
Got a Favorite author - next time you finish that read or re-read consider just saying Thank You.
made a pass fixing some of the errors pointed out to me by readers.
chapter 7 will follow in a bit.
this will be the first time i try adding just a chapter. the previous posting was 1 large file. so fingers crossed i don't screw this up.
