While writing Charley and Claire I worried a bit about suspension of disbelief. How believable would it be to have a fourteen year old looking at advanced math. I didn't need to worry!
There have been seventeen year old PhD's in math, ten year old college graduates, seventeen year old med school graduates and eighteen year old professors. Just this year a thirteen year old was admitted to medical school.
There are some really smart kids out there!
I don't plan to normally blog updates but this time it seems fitting. As far as today's chapter, this is where the story veers a bit from the most similar stories. The next two chapters will give us many of the same events from Claire's POV but after that there will be much less of that type of overlap.
I've just submitted a new story, Charley and Claire, for posting.
There are 21 shortish chapters, all complete and fully edited. If I got it right with the submission wizard you'll see the forward and chapter 1 shortly, then a new chapter every three days until it's done.
The story was largely inspired by Oyster50's Smart Girl stories and deals with much of the same subject matter, though there are a few differences. For one, the sex between characters doesn't start till half way through the story and there's very little of it that's graphic. It also comes from the software side of things, CompSci rather than EE.
While Rape is in the codes, it's not about rape and the one that takes place is not described in any detail, being confined to one paragraph.
Please see the forward for more information.
All of the story chapters for both Protective Coloration and Expanding Dizyntk have been updated. The introduction for the latter was not.
Please, if you see a mistake, let me know! I know some authors take the stance that if you're not paying for it then you get what you get, but I want it to be right. If I agree with you and can make the change without rewriting parts of the story then I'll be happy to do so.
I was just rereading some stories and this is a favorite - quite possibly the best short story I've read on Storiesonline, which is saying something. No sex at all. In such a short story I still managed to fall in love with the characters.
