Saturday queued up

I know it's VERY early in the week. I've received a lot of emails from people that read my last blog post. Since I don't know how long, when they ARE able to come fix things, that I'll be without power, I've gone ahead and put the next chapter up into the queue.

We're getting a bit of round three of an ice storm. The power line between my house and the pole got so much ice on it, it took the stack coming up from the meter down, nearly ripping the meter from the side of the house. The meter is still attached to the house, but the power line is draped over the neighbors fence. Not on the ground, still hanging up off the ground.

Realistically, if all they did was push the stack back up straight, reattach it to the house, and shove it back into the meter box, we'd be good. The minor detail that we have a quarter of a million people without power in the state means my simple repair isn't a high priority - not when they've had to evacuate nursing homes and assisted living facilities because they have no power.

Since there's a lovely discussion going on in the forums about loss of power due to events ... Oklahoma is experiencing a very bad ice storm event.

The power line just (as in just a little bit ago) ripped off the side of my house and is now laying across the fence between my house and the neighbors. And it's still live, because I still have power.

For now. We're at 220,000 people without power right now, 145,000 just in the OKC Metro, for OG&E. Fun times! Stay dry.

Light at the end of the tunnel

I don't think it's an oncoming train, though. I'm GOING to make some of you upset, about like I did when I ended Book One. I'm just about at a natural stopping point for Book Two, that doesn't end in a cliffhanger. (Thought about doing that, decided the hate mail wasn't worth it.)

As it is ... keep in mind I'm effectively half the book ahead of where you're reading today. I'm HOPING, but not PROMISING, to have the whole thing done, edited, proofread, and up on Bookapy by the end of October.

Which simply means that'll give me some time to finish taking my Realtor test, get my license, and get going with that, while I start up on Book Three and get a buffer built up there before I start posting it. Hell, I'm the one writing this, and I'm curious to see where it goes. Chapters 55 through 58 ... which is one REALLY long and intense day, basically ... didn't go like I thought they would. Characters follow their hearts and not the plot, and then as the writer, I'm going ... damn, they did what?

Chapter 46 is in the queue for tomorrow morning. More Disney, and if you're wondering (since I had to explain it), the PGA Tour is what we watch on TV. The PGA is a separate organization, as is the LPGA. Why is he saying this? Read and enjoy.

Note to self - when making corrections to the chapter, don't just save it, convert it to the format and save it in the file folder you're uploading, so you don't upload the PREVIOUS version. (Not much of a big deal, just a couple of proofreading errors that I really did correct, but forgot to save.)

Also, disposable cameras really did exist in 1984, just not the Fuji and Kodak ones everyone automatically thinks of. This is NOT an error on my part.

Saturday Fore-play

It's a world of laughter, A world of tears, It's a world of hopes, And a world of fears, There's so much that we share, That it's time we're aware, It's a small world after all

It's a small world after all, It's a small world after all, It's a small world after all, It's a small, small world

If that's stuck in your head now ... when I was young, we were on the ride and it broke down for about 20 minutes. With us in the back. That'll scar you for life. Worse torture than waterboarding.

Back to regular Saturday morning posts. Do you know why they call it golf? Because Fuck! and Shit! were already taken. (That's my blog hint about the type of fore-play in this chapter.)
