Chapter frequency, scheduling etc etc

Posted at

I think I got the website's posting schedule widget figured out and, if I did it right, I have the entire Do-Over story already loaded.

A new chapter will be released every other day at about 8pm for a total of 11 chapters over 22 days. You can specify a date, but it keys on the time you created the event and that is not something you can change. Since I uploaded the chapters around 8pm, that is when they will get released.

I think.

It is a pain to use BUT, if it works, it is a pain once per story and much handier for the readers who can depend on a regular schedule.

As with the last one, this is an experiment in timing. We'll see how the reader numbers stack up over time with this frequency and adjust from there.

On a side note...

As I promised myself and my readers, I will never load another story that isn't done. While readers may want more, each story will be complete before I start doling out the chapters. I tend to leave the story open enough that I can write more later if I want to expand the story, but I hope to have enough closure on each book that it can stand alone.

This Do-Over story is complete. While I appreciate suggestions for the plot, I probably won't make any storyline adjustments that require a re-write unless someone finds a gaping plot hole we missed. Suggestions for follow-up stories are still appreciated.

Do-Over launched: Echo!

Okay, I got a decent response on the do-over, a lot of folks though it would be worth reading so... here we go!

This should keep you busy until the other, much bigger story is complete.

It is called Echo!

What would you do if you went back in time to a childhood so horrible, so traumatic that suicide had been a viable option? Could you seize the moment this time? Could you make the change that would save you?

It's coming, keep your shorts on...

My next story is in editing.

That means I gave it the once over, realized I was way over my head, and asked a couple of great folks for help.

I before E except when I can't remember when E is before I.

Anyway, it's a fairly hefty story, coming in at a little under 300,000 words.

It is a coming of age story for the one surviving victim of a sadistic, pedo-obsessed serial killer.
--------------------

The last story I posted was a short one and I posted one chapter a day over ten days to see if that helped the visibility. I am convinced it did, and even received feedback to that effect.

On this one, is one chapter a week to slow? I want to strike a balance between exposure and reader satisfaction.

In other news:

I have a do-over I wrote just because the whole genre fascinates me. I have to admit that it is a little bit... formulaic. Frankly, it won't be breaking any new ground if I do end up posting it.

Still, I had a lot of fun writing it and thought I would see if there is any appetite out there for yet another one. What say you?

The last chapter of Max Scores! is posted

For some reason, it is showing 'To be continued' when it should read complete.

I went ahead and reposted the last chapter, making sure I marked it correctly this time and we'll see.

Hope you folks enjoyed the story. I may revisit with Max some day, but not soon, I have too many other stories waiting for an edit.

I posted chapter 2 of Max Scores! but got this missive from fotobaru shortly after.

"There is an obscure thing about SOL re frequent updates. If an update is posted within 18 hours of the last one it will not appear on either the summary page or the updates page."

Well, how about that.

I have already committed to posting a chapter a day, so I will do that, but I'll make sure that the updates are 24 hours or more apart.
