Echo has only 3 more chapters

and it seems to be well received. I wasn't aware that there were so many do-over fans!

My next story, assuming the final edit is done in time, will follow right on Echo's heels and it is a little shy of 300K words. I won't know how many chapters until I break it down after edit. It is an epic coming of age story and here is the blurb:

A sadistic sexual predator who kidnaps, tortures and murders children is finally caught. His latest victim, a young boy named Daniel Jackson McCoy, is freed from his clutches only to find that the madman had murdered his family. The aftermath of these events is Daniel's story to tell.

I already have yet another story after that, a shorter one at maybe 70k? But this will be something a little different from my usual fare. This is a no-sex (or sex just referenced, no details) story and here is the blurb:

They say you don't need a lid on a bucket of crabs, if one crab starts to climb out, the others will pull him back down again. Our society becomes more like that bucket every day so how do you think that we would treat a man who doesn't believe in God, but who is being hailed as an Angel?

Anyway, just wanted to give those who care a heads-up, you should have content from me for the foreseeable future! Beats the hell out of the slump I went through last year, eh?

What if it has already been done?

I was pounding out a story for the last two days, totally inspired by something and let me tell you, it is pretty damn cool. Then, taking a break because my fingers are actually cramping up. (22K words today and still worked 9 hours on my real job.)

BAM!

It hits me that someone else has done this.

Oh, not exactly, but enough that I can see the similarities. And not someone on SOL, but an author outside our little microcosm. I think mine is original enough that not many people will notice, but I will.

I know there are only, like, 6 stories lines, or so they would have us believe, but it is kind of disheartening sometimes.

Anyway... I lost the drive for today, so I am going to play some Sniper Elite 4 or something, maybe Wolfenstein... I thinking killing a bunch of Nazis is exactly what I need to get my head straight.

Boy, I sure got a lot of folks riled up about them horses.

But they are right and I was pretty embarrassed to have not dealt with them properly.

So, after being bombarded with messages telling me what a schmuck I am (as if I didn't already know) I wrote in a little change to the end of the story. Not much, but enough, I think.

Those who were worried, take a look and breathe easier. Ol' Red and Daisy are going to be just fine.

For those who have sent in little corrections to my other story, the Do_over Echo, I collect and process those, uploading the corrected chapter each time I upload a new chapter. Monday you will see a new version of Chapter 3 and the new Chapter 4.

Chapter 3 and a new Swarm Cycle short

Chapter 3 of my Do-Over Echo has been queued up. I also reposted Chapter 2 with minor corrections.

Everything that glitters...

The inspiration for this short story was an 80's Country song by Dan Seals and a story by Thinking Horndog, the creator of The Swarm Cycle. If you have not read his story, 'Buying Wholesale', go ahead and do that and you will see where this story fits. It's just a vignette inside a larger canvas. This was never intended as a stand-alone story.

I think that tiny subset of Country song fans and Swarm fans will really enjoy it. I sure had a blast writing it.

Swarm fans who are not fans of 80s Country music, I think the story will be fun for you too.

If you are neither an old Country fan nor a Swarm Cycle fan, well, I pity you. ;)

So much for scheduling the updates

I waited more than an hour after the scheduled time and the next chapter to Echo still hadn't been posted.

Either I don't understand how it works (quite possible) or it just doesn't work as expected.

In any case, I will be posting manually every other day until I can find out which is true.
