2300 (Earth) years before the time of Cure David, there was no Empire, merely an oligarchy of nobles ruling the Protectorate of Vreekoos. Behind this, there was a shadowy council that actually pulled the strings and ensured that any threat to the status quo was eliminated… not necessarily by death, though they could be merciless. But by overindulgence, degeneracy, and ensuring the competent only rose so far. Anyone with the ‘talent’ to overthrow the Protectorate, however limited the odds, was sidelined; though, in their wisdom, most were kept around, just in case the Protectorate faced a real threat. In this world, a young noble named Amantus was born, who would have followed an ordained path to becoming a useless noble drone… until a false accusation finally focused his intelligence on seeking revenge.
