My current project, The Loyalty Gene, is a science fiction story dealing with the effects of genetic slavery. If you've ever wondered what might happen if a boy falls in love with a girl; who happens to be a genetically engineered sex slave, you're in luck.

My story doesn't glamorize slavery and it really isn't salacious. Well, OK, it is kind of salacious, but this isn't a teen sex story. OK, the protagonists ARE teens and there is sex, but seriously, this isn't a teenage sex-romp.

Part one is seventy-six pages long and I'm looking for readers who can provide feedback on the story. If you want to look at the grammar, that is fine as well.

I'm still writing!

My current story is about freewill and choice. The story takes place in the near future where advanced genetics have made many things possible. The two protagonists are a young woman with an unusual heritage and her boyfriend who loves her very much.

I hope to have it finished in 2019.

My thanks to everyone who voted for the 2017 Awards. I'm thrilled that so many of you enjoyed my first story. Writing The Farmer's Daughter, and interacting with my readers was an amazing experience. My editors, beta readers, friends, and my wife all helped me to stay on course and learn.

One of the things I learned was to finish the story before posting it. It is my intention to do so with my current story, The Girl Next Door. TGND is set in a future world where there have been amazing advances in genetics. If you enjoyed The Farmer's Daughter, chances are you will also enjoy The Girl Next Door.

1. Write the entire story first.
2. Avoid in-chapter POV changes when writing in first person.

About halfway through writing TFD, my mother called and accused me of writing pornography. She said, "Men use those stories for...you know what they use them for!" I wish I had recorded the conversation. My laughing made her really mad.

There should be a separate Clitoride award for "Author Accused by Mother for Writing Porn."

Mom has read the completed story, and she's calmed down. She now refers to TFD as Amish Erotica. I love my mom.

It has been a great deal of fun writing this story. When I started, there were so many things I didn't know. It was difficult to understand the constructive criticism I received. I've since learned a few things.
