I was far sicker for much longer than I ever wanted or expected, but I am finally, truly on the mend… and back to posting. Chapter 12, the penultimate chapter in Substitute and the longest yet, was posted last night. I've also updated chapters 9 - 11. The cumulative changes and corrections would make re-reading the entire story potentially rewarding before I post the final chapter sometime later today.

…although at times I sure felt like it. My sincere apologies for not posting the remaining chapters of Substitute as I promised in my last blog entry: illness over the last week has halted every creative endeavour.

Thankfully, it's been nothing terribly serious. Over the last few days of recovery, when I've not been curled up in bed, I have been able to catch up on a little writing. The last three chapters of Substitute have become four, and I'm currently working on finishing the last two. If my plans hold, I should be able to start posting the final chapters tomorrow, one per day.

I'm very near the end of Adam's and Violet's story, with just three more chapters to go. All three chapters are currently plotted and have most of their scenes completed, but still remain a little raw. Sadly, work demands mean that I won't be able to release them in a finished state this week. Instead, I'll use whatever time I can grab during the working week to edit and polish them, with expected publication this coming Friday and over the weekend. My apologies to any reader who was hoping or expecting to read the final chapters on Monday and Tuesday.

My sincere thanks to everyone who has expressed their support and encouragement over the last week and a half with their votes, comments and email messages. I was delighted to see that collectively all of my stories reached 100,000 downloads on SOL today. Ultimately, of course, this is a completely arbitrary number, but it's one that I choose to place meaning on and have a deep gratitude for.

Chapter 7 of Substitute, posted today, was a little shorter than usual. It's the most dramatic in the story, featuring major changes in the lives of Violet and Adam. Chapter length returns roughly to normal with Chapter 8.

I was very pleased to see that Substitute cracked the Top 10 downloads on SOL today; I'm hoping that this might continue as I finish up and post the final five chapters over the next week.

Posted today, the sixth chapter of Substitute further explores Violet's psychology, as well as Adam's evolving relationship with his half-sister.

I've known several women for whom submission was deeply related to their ability to get through the day. For them, spankings or other forms of play went hand-in-hand with productivity, whether it was completing housework or working on an academic paper. The D/s play could be a reward for completing tasks, or a punishment for failing to do so. Violet is a little different: the combination of a dominant partner's expectations and a physical reminder provides her with the motivation she needs to get her work done.
