I'm almost done with the next to last chapter. The final chapter should be in the hands of my editors by Thursday. Final proofreading and editing will take place through the weekend and I plan to start posting chapters by next Monday, the second of October. I'm excited, and I hope Linda's fans are ready!
I'm putting the finishing touches on Chapter 9 and will be sending it to the editors tonight. The first 8 chapters are finished and ready to be formatted for posting. It takes me about 10 hours to write a chapter, then the editors slice it up and send it back to me. I fix the obvious errors and we go back and forth on the questionable 'fixes' till I finally surrender. Total time spent writing and massaging a chapter runs me about 12 hours real time. If things go well with Chapter 9 tonight, I'm hoping to have the last three chapters of Linda's Posse done by the end of this month. I don't want to start posting until it's finished. Several Linda fans have begged (okay, asked) me to start posting early but I'm holding out for a salary bonus! So far, I have well over 100 hours of my time invested in writing a sequel to Retribution.
Like I've said in several places, most recently at the tag end of Paige Hawthornes story 'Winter's Woes' the only recompense we get for writing is feedback from readers. Whether it's in the form of comments or the mail system or voting on our work. Without that feedback, most authors on here would quit writing. I've noticed that most stories here get around 1% of the downloads who bother to vote. That's tragic. Voting only takes a second. Commenting or feedback to the author takes a minute. That's what feeds us. Sustains us. Keeps us writing. If you have an author you like, or a story you enjoy, tell the author! If you don't like it, don't read anymore offerings by that particular writer. Authors here are amateurs. We have fragile egos. If you want all of us to keep spending our time and efforts providing the best stories we're capable of, do your part. Feedback! Vote! Please. It means the world to us writers. Thanks.
The sequel to Retribution is coming along fine. Chapters 1-5 are finished and the editors are done with whatever magic it is they do. I'm fortunate to have some of the best editors in the business. TeNderLoin, Ernest Bywater, The Rev, and Omachuck keep my stories on track. Chapter 6 will be in their hands tonight. Then I'll spend a day arguing, defending, and eventually accepting. Chapter 7 should be a wrap by Sunday, at the latest. Right now, I'm leaning toward Linda's Posse being 12-14 chapters long with one more final sequel to follow. So the current sequel is right at the halfway point, halfway through the month of September.
Cheers
An update for those of you who wanted a sequel. The first four chapters are done and edited. I'll be sending chapter 5 into the editorial pool tonight. Things are looking good and the story is progressing well. Linda does get romance and villains to deal with as the story evolves. I'm still on target for a late September, early October release of the sequel, Linda's Posse.
No, the stories aren't mine. I did editing on both of them. I am a big fan of both authors, Crumbly Writer and Paige Hawthorne. Their styles couldn't possibly be more different. Both stories are well edited. You won't be able to find many typos etc if any. Paige writes about her female detective, Winter Jennings. Not everyone is going to enjoy her style and her sense of humor, but if you get it, her stories are a real treat. CW writes science fiction with a twist. He takes tired old themes and injects new life into them, with a completely unexpected slant that is fascinating. Both of them are worth your time, reading. These are not stroke stories, so if your just looking for mindless sex, or mind sex, either way, this isn't the place to check.
On my own story, I am well on the way to writing a sequel to Retribution and the first two chapters are done and edited. I'm working on Chapter 3 now. I hope and plan to have the sequel completed by the end of September. Cheers.
