Good news and bad news

Hey all.

Yes, I have some good news and I have some bad news.

Whenever someone on TV gets that dog turd dropped onto their laps, they want the bad news first. Screw that. Gimme the good first and I'll ignore the bad and blame it on someone else whenever I truthfully don't remember being told the bad news.

I noticed in the chapter stats for the last chapter of Mayhem, that it has just reached 10,000 downloads per chapter. I used to use 10,000 downloads per chapter as a deadline to tell me it was time for the next one. At the beginning, that was a good measuring stick for me to use not to early and not to late. But then a few chapters started reaching 10,000 downloads in like 4 days. Now how the hell am I supposed to keep up with that!

So I started ignoring the arbitrary deadline and just decided to upload new chapters whenever my fancy was tickled. Basically I'm a lazy bastard and I don't write as often as I could. And must be wooed to the keyboard.

So um, what was I talking about?

Oh yeah, good news. The next chapter of Mayhem in a Pill has been sent to the editors. Usually takes about a week to get those back and for me to go over them. So I'm hoping to get the next chapter posted in about a week.

And the bad news, well with me bringing up a new chapter at least two weeks earlier than I would have normally done so. I expect to become inundated with requests for me to go faster. Okay, so it's not exactly bad news from your perspective but to my score of fans who do write, tend to ask for strange things like me writing when I have time and more often.

Don't they understand how hard I work at putting things off until later. I mean I was going to write this blog yesterday but held off until today.

Oh yeah, this next chapter goes back to young Tim in high school. Do with that piece of information as you would like.

P.S. It might sound like I don't like people writing to me and asking questions. That is incorrect. In fact I enjoy it. Even the dumb ones. Which are those... I'll never tell.

I figured I would try something completely new for me and see how much I would like it.

I decided to stop procrastinating. Not completely but for a little while. I actually set up a little time everyday to either write or self edit what I wrote previously. Now I understand why it is that I procrastinated so often and for so long. Writing ain't difficult, it's writing something good that's hard. I don't remember his name but I heard an interview with some musician who had just come out with a new album and the damn thing had like 4 singles that hit number one on the charts getting him money, fame and chicks flowing 24/7. It was like 6 years in between albums. The record company PR department was trying to sell the guy as a tortured soul that just could not write anything during that time. He was stuck with the dreaded writer's block. He told an interviewer that was all BS. He was writing all kinds of music, it's just that he got stuck in his own head of declaring the new music he was writing as garbage and he would throw it out.

Eventually his friends and bandmates found him throwing out good stuff that while raw, had good pieces they could work with rather than dumping everything. So now he, his band and his record company were all happy because now instead of one new album every six years, he was able to crank them all out again. One every three years.

He was right, he was writing shit. But his managemant and his band mates knew that shining up a turd for your adoring public to happily buy up the shiny turd because it was written by him.

That guy was smart. So what does this have to do with the latest chapter of Mayhem in a Pill. Not a goddamn thing. But at least it is almost 8am and I have been up all night because I figured out how to get the chapter to flow after writing and throwing away shot for the last two weeks.

Ugh.

Okay, Chapter 32 of Mayhem in a Pill is with the editors and getting slowly sliced and punctured and molded into a nice polished turd. But you freaks get to read it for free. Ain't life great!

Damn. I'm tired.

Hey everybody.

I'll explain the title first. Yesterday was the annual anniversary of thanking my father ?? years and nine months ago for not pulling out during a romantic interlude with my mother.

Every year he makes sure I don't forget it. So for his birthday, can you believe it... he's a New Year's kid. He was born in the afternoon in San Juan, Puerto Rico so his mom didn't get any of that free crap for droppin' a kid on New Year's. She always said he was the present she wanted. I know the sugar hurt my teeth, too.

So I got him a iPad. I also set it up so he can read SOL. But all he wants to do with the thing is yell at it for not letting win at Solitaire more often.

What was I saying... I kinda forgot the point there for a second. Oh yeah, Chapter 31 of Mayhem in a Pill is in the queue and posted. Enjoy.

Postscript-- I know it was a long time between posts but as I just told you, I had a birthday and so did my father just over a month earlier. At least, them's is my excuse.

Going back to the escapee portion of our story so re-read Chapter 27 if you need reminding. So if you want to send a "Happy Birfday" message, just vote a nice HIGH score. I'm pretty sure the chapter is worth it and I know for a fact that'll make me smile for sure!

It's your favorite time of year when I get off my fat ass and decide to write a little for your amusement.

Ah, who am I kidding. I write because I like it too.

I'll keep it short and sweet kiddies. Chapter 31 of Mayhem in a Pill has been sent to the editors and it should only take like a couple of days. Hardest part is actually trying to navigate through the series of red marks that when corrected turn my prose into something conforming to a readable thing. Cause when we start out, wow, it ain't good but my editors do a great job in polishing up that turd.

So give it a couple days and a new chapter will be up.

You might need a reminder of where we are at so you can go back to Chapter 27 to remember what was going on with our escape artist. This chapter continues that segment of the story.

Thanks for reading and keep an eye out for the next chapter coming sometime within the next week.

Laters,
Shinerdrinker

Oh snap! That ain't what I meant!

Ooops!

Apparently I'm being told my last blog made it sound like I was giving up on "Mayhem in a Pill." Let me just answer that question...

HELL NO!! I AIN'T QUITTIN'!!!

I was pointing out several emails worried about Tim is so far a football god and has too much of an advantage over other players. I'm pointing out that he has the same kind of advantage over high school freshman as a college football starter at one of the larger football powerhouses. So he can do anything he wants on the football field just because of his athletic prowess.

Eventually he is gonna have to fight harder as he goes up in athletic ability. So I openly ask those worried and afraid he is too much like Superman and is seeing nothing to challenge him. If I was going to write that, I would have finished it already and I could start fretting about another of the stories fighting to come out of my head!

So in conclusion... yes, he can win easily right now but he is pretty low on the pole of football abilities surrounding him and playing against him. There is a difference between the quality of player in freshman football versus Junior Varsity versus Varsity versus smaller college versus football factory college versus professional football.

Be patient. I'm in this for the long run and I will continue this story. At least until the NFL Draft gets closer then I can't be expected to actually keep my mind on two things at once. Hell my family knows not to ask me anything the week before or during the NFL Draft. Hell, I'm considering a road trip to Dallas this year and watching it live but then I have to figure out how to keep watching both ESPN and the NFL Network at the same time to argue over each pick with the so called experts!

Ooops, sorry got on a rant there but YES, I'm still writing "Mayhem in a Pill!"
