New chapters and revision of older parts

Posted at Updated:

New readers might wonder about the discrepancy between chapters 1-20 and the new chapters in view of the spelling, grammar and general readability. It's easy, only the last three chapters were edited by Chipster82, Bigbillh and Scifi Nut, who're actually able to write in English.

At the moment chapters 1-20 are going through a revision as well, but it'll take some more time till it's completed. We decided against re-posting edited chapters successively. Starting with edited chapters and later on struggling with so far unedited chapters would be too disappointing to new readers.

I can't say exactly when the revision will be completed, but I'm hoping it will be finished this month (November 2012). Hope springs ...yadda yadda.

Oups!

When I logged at SOL today I got a message from their webmaster. He had send me an e-mail and asked if I got it. I hadn't...Well, I thought I hadn't.

I visited my e-mail server and looked at my mailbox. I got a surprising amount of spam mails from SOL-feedback...

I'm very sorry about this. My server classified most feedback mails from SOL as spam, just not all of them, for unknown reasons. That's why I never searched before.

I'll look through them as fast as I can, and already saw some offers to edit the story. So there is a silver line at the horizon!

Personal musing

I got zero feedback on my story aside from the voting. That's not meant to complain, but to explain my further musings. Evaluating the TPA voting I came to the conclusion, the readers of my story have to be as weird as I am. OK, not all of them, but some really are! According to these votes, I write a story they hardly can understand, but it has a nice plot and appeals on a personal level.

Kidding aside, I just wanted to tell you, I stopped looking for an editor. I write and post for fun, and I've no fun on begging and pleading people I don't know for help. Again, that's no complain against any listed editor. If some foreign illiterate would write a story in German and ask for my help to edit it, I probably wouldn't answer as well.

I still sleep peacefully at night, knowing I don't force anyone to read my story or got payed an undeserved load of money.

Still searching for an editor

I'm sorry if your hope to find an edited version of the story got smashed once you started reading. Edited by someone actually capable to write in English that is. Basically nothing had changed. I'm still looking for an editor and got no response so far. I just did a more careful proofread of chapter 1-8 myself. While I was on it, I got bored as usual and added 3 more chapters to the "new 1.10" version. So there is sadly no real news. But as they say, hope is eternal!

A short notice

Posted at Updated:

Just wanted to give a short notice to people who would be interested to read a continuation of Roban's and Athea's story.
First I feel like I should apologize for the poor technicality of the story. But that would be only partly honest. It wont surprise you to hear English isn't my native language. I posted the story partly just to test if people would fight through it, although it was technically poor.

A lot of people did. I'll freely admit I could have done better. My proofreading was more boredom than effort. Why put a lot of work into it, if none would read the story anyway? The voting for the story, especially the detailed TPA ratings, are the information I was hoping for. Most people who read it, did like the story, just not the sloppy use of their language. I hardly can hold that against them, I have to agree.

So I will continue to write, I will even put more effort in proofreading it. Doubtless, those of you who read the story, will be happy to hear I already tried to contact on the site listed editors. So far I got no response. That's the main reason why I can't tell when I'll be able to post the next part. I can imagine it would be a gruesome job for an editor to fight through the horrible mix of English and German grammar, let alone what ever else I messed up. That's, vague as it is, all I can tell at the moment.
