Another writer reminded me that by entering the contest, I couldn't move First Contact #1: The Strigoi, behind the paywall. I'd either forgotten or, more likely, misread the rule.

I want to thank awnlee jawking for pointing that out. He also suggested I could upload the corrected and expanded version behind the paywall and upload that version for sale.

I think, rather than doing that, I'll leave the version here as is and upload the other version to Bookapy. I'm not ashamed of the original one that was published.

However, I'm angry at myself for rushing through and not letting my editor have time to work on the story in advance. I plan to put the new version (which is about 1000 words longer) on Bookapy today, though it may be late in the day.

This was my first time to enter here, and I loved writing my story. I published First Contact #1: The Strigoi sans my editor. He has completed his edit (mine sucked), and I’ll be updating it here and making it available at Bookapy over the weekend.

Next year, I’ll start earlier and allow my editor to work on it before I put it up. I rushed through it, leaving out a few key factors, and it has plenty of mistakes right now. Despite those errors, I like what I have published, but it will be better soon.

I’m neither discouraging nor encouraging anyone to read it now or wait until it’s fixed. Once it is up at Bookapy, I’ll put it behind the paywall here.

I thoroughly enjoyed writing the story. I haven’t done much in the Sci-Fi genre to this point, but I believe I’ll be writing more soon.

First, let me tell you that Sam and Kim #1 In the Beginning isn’t available on SOL at this time. It’s up at Bookapy.

My new story is about two characters I’ve written about before. Sam and Kim are characters modeled after two friends of my father. I used Sam and Kim in the stories, Happy Birthday, Darling, A Mexican Cutie, and Sam solo (with someone else) in The Sugar Mama: Sam’s First Adventure.

There’s a bit of an inconsistency in the timelines of those stories. I hadn’t ever intended to think about this being a series. I just wrote them, gave them dates, and realized that when I set out to portray the couple more accurately, I realized my mistakes.

None of these are currently on here. I will try to put them here over the next week with a corrected timeline. At the same time, I’ll upload new text files to Bookapy.

The real Sam, not his real name, was a gigolo who continued to do that work on the side after he married the real Kim, also not her real name. They had an open marriage for fifteen years, but Kim only messed around with other women. While Sam worked for almost five years after they married in his advocation. They were swingers and many more-some.

After a minor brush with the law, Sam gave up his side gig, but they continued on with their unusual lifestyle. My stories take the basics and springboard from there. There was a 10-year age difference between Sam and Kim.

So, all this is to announce that I’ve published a novel on Bookapy about their brief courtship leading up to their wedding. Their wedding and honeymoon will be in another story. This story also has subplots that will continue in the following ones.

Love on the Run is a tale about a twenty-something young woman who tells of her experience with a friend. Friendship turned into something else, not entirely voluntary, as her stronger friend forced her into a one-night stand.
