I know it has been a while, but chapter 15 is finally in the hopper. I'll admit I was stuck for quite a while on how to progress the story the way I was planning. Part of me wanted to rush forward and I had to throw out about half the chapter. Then life just got in the way. It came together pretty quickly this time, so I'm guessing I just needed some time away from this story to wrap my hands around my pacing.
Sorry everyone for the delays on Chapter 14. As some of you may know I was struggling with chapter breaks. It seemed like a lot was going on or getting started in this chapter and I didn't know if I wanted to cram any more into it. I eventually decided not to and I'll pick up right where I left off with Chapter 15. You also may notice that chapters may or may not end at the end of a day. Some events will take longer than one day to progress and instead of filling each day with minutia that does not advance the story I will be trying to focus on scenes needed to tell the tale.
Hopefully this isn't too disruptive for anyone, if it is let me know. If I get enough feedback I may consider other options, but please remember I don't intent to write a detailed accounting of every day for Patty, that's just not the kind of story I have to tell.
Once my raw, error filled text has been reviewed by Spiralbound I'll post. As he is really awesome It'll probably be in the next couple days.
I am very happy to announce that I have found someone willing to edit my rough story. Spiralbound has graciously volunteered to struggle through my typos, grammer errors and confusing word order to help produce a much better story. Hopefully this will reduce the number of flow breaking errors in the story. Please remember any remaining errors are mine and not his.
I have reposted chapter 12 with his edits and I must say it seems to read better to me.
I am working on Chapter 13 right now, which is the last day before Patty and her friends start school. I would like to warn my readers that Chapter 14 may be a bit delayed as I work out how I want to pace the story once we have a full class load to address for Patty at school. It may take a bit of time and some trial and error to work that out, but even if there is a slight delay, please remember I am committed to telling this whole story and probably more after it.
Hey everyone, sorry about the delay. The editing is taking much longer than I expected and I haven't yet found someone who can help. Therefore I decided to take a break from editing and updating the already posted chapters to write up the next one. I'm sure it is not as good as what I've been posting as it hasn't been edited very much, but I wanted to get something up for those who are waiting. If you want to wait until I post on this blog that I have all chapters edited (including this one), please feel free. I suspect it will be a better read then. But, if you really can't wait don't let me hold you back.
Again, if there is anyone who is willing to help with the editing process, either of existing chapters or for new chapters, please feel free to leave me a comment or message and I would greatly appreciate the assistance.
FYI, I'm starting to think that for the next book in this story (and it is looking like there will be more than one) I'll write the entire book first, and then post chapters after a proper editing process.
I'm sure there are people who are waiting for the next chapters, and I apologize for the delay, but I am working through an editing pass of the chapters already written. I have gone through and made notes for the first 8 chapters (about 50% of the story) and have made my changes for chapters 1-5 which are in the hopper to be uploaded. Again, I do in fact plan to continue, but as a few of you have pointed out I had major flaws with my previous chapters that broke suspension of disbelief and I feel those must be fixed before I go on.
Thank you to everyone who is waiting patiently.
