I wasn't expecting the amount of emotions and memories my last story 'The Veteran' would bring from those that read it.
My muse stood over me to write it but she knew what she was doing and I am so happy that so many enjoyed reading it.
The comments and messages from those who my words touched are the reward of an writer and knowing that they enjoyed it is the sweetest of rewards.
And the people who served and my story touched, have my respect for their service and loss.
Thank you all.
When the muse strikes, she can be a harsh mistress and makes you write and continue until you reach the end.
The Veteran is not long but the story had to be written.
He represents many men and women now, who served with strangers who became friends and as close as family and when those friends were lost to battle, accidents or just time, they remember them and pass on their stories to the youngsters.
The Wall is not just one wall but all of them that record the names of those who were serving and paid the final price so we can live.
Thank you.
Well it has been a long time since I posted a story here and this time it is a story about what certain people may encounter once they die.
I wrote it in relation to reading about all the abuse that has been done by a small number of members of various church organisations here in Australia and around the world.
We have a Royal Commission who have been investigating historical abuses in various organisations (not just religious) and how we can improve reporting of abuse allegations to police.
Listening to some of the reported allegations and what has happened over the past decades and how people were protecting the image, dignity and power of the church or organisation, has been sickening.
And this story is just my little idea of what those people may face when they get to their reward.
Thank you.
Well my first ever story has been up for a bit over 12 hours and I am quite surprised and honoured by the reception it got.
A few readers have sent me messages about my story and they have been very encouraging. The fact that someone thought that the story idea could be good enough for others to write their own versions is great.
The story score is very nice but the lone little score of 1 was surprising. I would like to know why someone gave it a score that low though. It is just a niggling little thing that says they didn't like the story but didn't think enough to explain why.
To all my readers who enjoyed my story, thank you.
