Except for the sex toys, Julie wrapped her gifts and placed them early under the tree. She marked “From Santa” on them. For Cosette, besides the e-reader, she purchased some more non-pink outfits. And as a special treat, a stylish long dress (down to her ankles) made from midnight blue satin fabric.
“Her birthday is January 10th and I’m going to take her someplace very fancy as a treat. No singing or cake though, because she would be uncomfortable and embarrassed.”
That gift was also marked, “From Santa.”
From the hallway, Sette was unseen as she took note of Julie placing yet another “Santa” gift under the tree.
The following evening, Sylvie and Theo were out on a date. They were celebrating, Theo had been asked to return for a second interview. The job was right down his alley and his hopes were high because his possible supervisor had pulled him aside after the first interview to tell him he was very supportive.
They used a ride-sharing app to travel to and from their date; they wanted to drink while they were out. So, they were both tipsy when they returned after ten o’clock. Julie greeted them in the living room, rising from her customary place in the big recliner. The room was dark except for the puddle of light around the recliner, and the multicolored lights decorating the tree.
Hearing her parents, Cosette padded out to lurk in the dark entrance to the bedroom hall. It was always a treat for her to watch her parents after they were drinking. She was not disappointed.
“Oh, Julie, we had a blast. You know how hot Theo is when he wears that new suit.”
“I just feel more confident when I have it on. But I wanted to dance with our angel, too. Will you come with us next time?”
“I don’t know, what do you think, Syl?”
“You know I love our angel, too. Watch this...”
They shared a passionate kiss.
“Mm, angel lips. You kiss her too, Theo.”
While Julie and Theo were lip-locked, Sylvie put her arms around them both.
“Let’s take our angel to bed, c’mon!”
That was Sette’s cue to back away and return to her bedroom. But she had some ideas.
