Eyeball update

Well, I went back for my end of the week appraisal by the Eye Surgeon yesterday. All is looking good, in fact I have 20/20 vision in my right eye and slightly better vision in the left. I do have minor cloudiness on the outer verges of vision in the left eye, but it's slowly disappearing. I have only one more visit in six weeks time, which will tell the doc if she needs to do a laser 'polish' to the lens or not, but other than that, all is looking well and I'm ecstatic.

PS, I've also started writing again, but keep that a secret for now, huh? ;-) I have to get back into the swing of things.

Cataract operation #2

Just a quick update on yesterday's operation:
First off, it's done and I'm back to drops in my eyes, right now, I have to use drops 6 times a day. There are two different medications, put in twenty minutes apart, and they effect my sight for the next half hour - at least. So reading and writing is exceptionally slow. Besides, the left eye hasn't settled down yet, so I'm having headaches if I spend long concentrating on a printed page or a web site.

Now, my impressions of yesterday's operation. It certainly didn't go as easily as the first one. To start with I have to mention that when I was a youth, I had a few problems with my left eye, astigmatism, iritis and various inflammation problems. The end result is that the pupil on that eye won't expand very far. The doc had to use a special instrument to hold it open, which irritated the eye even more than usual, so it's swelled far more than the other eye was. I imagine that means a longer recovery period.

However, since this operation wasn't originally scheduled for another 3 weeks, I still feel ahead of the game.

First post in a while

Well, I'm back - - - sorta!

I had cataract surgery on one eye and can kind see, sometimes.
So, I am posting again, but it will be rather irregularly, for now anyway, at least until I have the surgery done on the other eye. Even then I'll need to recover, then get some decent reading glasses.

The rumour is wrong, I ain't dead!

What I do have is a health problem or two, due to old age and a VERY active life style when I was younger. Oh yes, there have also been a couple of 'minor' computer problems along the way, but they were comparatively easy to solve.

If you want a list of my health issues, I suffer from a 'minor' heart and circulation troubles, sciatica, spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, etc. I don't know if I should mention cholesterol issues, high blood pressure and junk like that, because Canada's Health Care System and some dang good doctors allows me to keep them under control. (In other words, my problems mostly stem from the fact that my brain has outlived the rest of my body.)
However, to top everything else off, I've recently developed cataracts in both eyes, so I have major trouble reading even large type on the computer monitor. Luckily I've been able to arrange to get the cataracts operated on as soon as the eye surgeon can arrange for operating space.

So hopefully I'll be able to write again in a month or two.

All voting on my stories has been shut down!

I had thought in the past that by shutting off e-mail access from this site, I would no longer have to put up with the aggravation of small minded individuals sending anonymous e-mails with the main aim of bothering me. It seems however that they have discovered some method of circumventing those precautions.

So, due to a recent proliferation of crank emails that all taunted me that the sender was successfully dropping my scores on all stories that they could access, and doing so in vile and obnoxious language, I've shut off all voting on ALL of my stories on the site. I simply don't want or need the annoyance of the petty minds of such foolish people.

This action may make life more difficult for you the reader, but please, don't blame me. I am only trying to protect my sanity. Since I've gone through a fair amount of pain and suffering in my life recently, I do not need the aggravation of idiotic anonymous fools on top of my own personal problems. I will probably have to change my e-mail address now though.

By the way, this action was the lesser of two evils - the other was to pull all of my stories and abandon this site altogether.
