The Passing of George Young

Posted at

One thing that I was going to write about on my blog the other day; but events overtook me, was the passing a week ago of George Young, a giant of the Australian music industry since the mid-1960's. Long-term readers of "The Three Signs" series would have recognized the name; it's George Young that produces many of Will's records; encouraging his music career. It's almost impossible to imagine how the Australian music industry would have developed without George Young, and his writing partner Harry Vanda. From the Easybeats in the mid 60's, through composing and producing many songs and groups in the 70's and 80's. Without George, there wouldn't have been an AC/DC.

Now, I myself have never been part of the Australian music industry - with the exception of going to quite a few concerts in the 70's, 80's and 90's. But when I found it necessary for the plot to have someone in the music industry to guild Will, and his friends through making their albums, the name 'George Young' was the first name that came to mind. Much of what I've written involving the music side of the story is completely fictional; a pure fabrication - but it MIGHT have happened. Many of the names are real; I've twisted events to suit the story. But there's no fiction, no invention about George Young's impact on the Australian - and world - music scene. We've lost yet another giant.

Lori - Penultimate Chapter Posted

Just one chapter remaining to post, and Book two of this apparent never-ending saga will be done. I've already got the first half of book three simmering away on the burners, so I don't expect much of a delay in getting that out.

A teaser - Book 3 is titled "Janelle". Long term readers will probably be sweating in anticipation of all the hot, steamy sex with Nurse Ward (the younger)... but there's a few things that need to happen before Will and Janelle get to bump uglies....

The first few chapters aren't going to be all that good for our hero; Will's been having too much of an easy life so far. You have been warned...

Riding out Hurricanes

Lori, Chapter 39 is almost ready - just a few more pages to write, and then put it through my (typically slipshod) proof-reading. Unfortunately, it will be delayed maybe 4 or 5 days, at least until Hurricane Irma passes. I'm expecting it to go through here late Sunday afternoon (It's Friday night as I write this), and be completely out of here by late Monday. Assuming there's no substantive damage, I'll get the next chapter posted within next week.

We've made all of our preparations; got plenty of bottled water, cans of food, sandbags to keep water out, so it's just a case of sitting tight and keeping our fingers crossed.

Slight delay in posting

Just to let you all know, the next installment of "Lori" is still a few weeks away. Earlier last month, my wife had to spent two weeks in hospital with some serious health issues. She's better, and is home recuperating, but it has meant I've had to take some time off from writing. All going well, then next chapter will be posted in maybe two weeks...

Suggestion - Cast of Characters Document

I had a suggestion from one reader of the "Three Signs" series that with so many characters in the story, they are finding it hard to keep track of everyone. Earlier on, for my own reference I set up a document listing each character (the major ones, at least). I could update this, and make it available, say through "DropBox", as a PDF document.

I could also add some photos of how I perceive some of the characters (NSFW photos...). If people would like to see my interpretation of how I envisage these characters... send some feedback.

I would have the document done in a few weeks time.
