The Dead Walk! This universe is similar, but not identical to the universe of the George Romero Films.
If you are looking for something along the lines of Resident Evil, or Zombieland, the ZPAW stories don't quite fit that nitch. The characters learn and grow, not just get eaten. (though that will happen to some)
The focus of the stories is on the characters trying to survive, the zombies themselves are just one of the challenges they face. (You'll note that instead of horror, I classified it as Action/Adventure)
You won't find any boss monsters, secret military/industrial labs, government conspiracies or quests for a cure, just people doing the best they can to survive after the collapse of civilization.

What goes around comes around, a common theme in zombie stories. A character does something to someone else and receives karmic payback for what they did... ...Joel is in a tight spot, on the run in a world full of walking dead. No car, no ammo, and almost out of food. It's a desperate situation, and a man does what he has to if he wants to survive, doesn't he? / (Reviews)

Marla's just come off a double shift at the hospital where she works as an EMT. Before she left, she heard rumors of patients going crazy and biting people.... All she wants to do is take a shower and get some sleep, but her ex-boyfriend pounds the door demanding help.... Note,this story is marked 'Minimal Sex' It would be 'Some Sex', but the sex is not explicit (The story is tamer than the romances you can buy at walmart). I thought about marking it 'NoSex' but that doesn't fit either.
As the Zombie-Apocalypse unfolds, some survivors fight to preserve civilization while others revert to savagery. One group has to deal with escaped prisoners, gang members, self appointed political leaders, and FEMA bureaucrats supported by alphabet soup (FBI, BATF, etc) agents.
