Mostly Normal — A Universe from the Mind of Bronte Follower

This story suddenly came to me while I was reading a novel on my tablet. The story demanded that I put the Hodgell novel away and write it. I had no other choice. The sex is mostly off-stage.

What do a canceled talk, an ice-cream cone, and an odd noise have to do with a widowed mom or with Kris' boyfriend? This story came to me when I read the teaser for another SOL story. As I usually do, I took the idea and ran with it in a perpendicular direction.

This idea came to me upon reading the teaser of a new story posted recently to SOL. I thought I’d use that teaser, but take the story in the opposite direction. Or, at least, AN opposite direction.

She’s a high-school sophomore, far from sophomoric, in a dark place: Her mother in the loony bin (but don't say "loony" around her), her father….. questionable. How does such a girl deal with such a difficult life? What do two towheaded classmates mean for her future? And what is with all the Emmas? Additional tags provided down the road.
