"Catalum" is Latin for an intergalactic species that look like puppy dogs. Their empire claims the Virgo Supercluster for their home and they will not tolerate any challenge to their sovereignty or threat to their people.
A Catalum fleet is sent to study temporal effects in the region. The locals do not take kindly to being trespassed upon. They then learn they're the small fish in a very big pond.
