This is a series of small thank you notes (flash stories) in appreciation for what the Armed Forces have done for their country. Though keyed toward the USA, they really represent all countries.
The Korean War was not a waste of lives! This is my salute to the veterans of that conflict on Memorial day, and a heart-felt "Thank You." A flash action/adventure story.
This was just another routine patrol through the hinterlands of Iraq. This was the sort of thing that happened when the excitement of the original conquest had faded, and the main point was trying to stay alive until it was time to go home. Sometimes staying alive depends on the quality of the equipment and sometimes it depend on the men using the equipment, but, usually, it depends on both of them working together.
This is my thank you note for those men who served in WWI. I had two great-uncles who were in France, and one was gassed, but survived. He fought a battle with what mustard gas had done to his lungs for the rest of his life. This is a what-if kind of story. Suppose the US Army had used a little imagination. What might have happened then? One squad tests out an idea. Read what might have happened.
Spend a few days with an American infantry platoon in the hedgerows of Normandy, France. Just be sure to keep your head and your ass down! This is another of my “Thank-you Notes” stories, but it is longer than usual.
