Sherwin's Falls is a small community situated on the American border south of
Montreal between Valleyfield and Hemmingford, in the heart of apple-growing
country. The village was gradually dying when a stranger comes into town, rebuilds the old boarded-up hotel as a 17th century English pub and inn and sets up Canada's largest and most elaborate naturist resort next door and across the street from the presbyrterian church. Come see how the villagers deal with this situation...
The stories are all independent but follow a chronological order with repeating characters...
One Monday, the residents of Sherwin's Falls woke up to find that someone had set up a ten-foot plywood fence all around the entire O'Shaughnessy property, across from the church, including the pond, the falls themselves and all the land around the spring that fed the falls. Since then, big trucks with earth hauling equipment have been going in and out all day and the residents are inundated by construction noise. What in the world is happening? Who is doing this?
Mélanie Turgeon, a young single mother, flees her violent boyfriend with her 7 month old son and finds herself, lost and starving, somewhere in the Eastern Townships of Montreal. A kind-hearted woman finds her, feeds her and drops her off in an inn where everyone is nude.
It's the middle of June, the temperature is in the high 30°C and the relative humidity is in the high 90%. Different people from Mélanie's past show up to disturb her new-found peace and quiet. Will she be forced to give Sonny up or will she finally find love and happiness?
