Get me on that raid. These guys are going to find our man, because they took him, I messaged to the farm.
Okay so that fucking logic program of yours works. Yes, we were arming both sides. Only because we are usually on the wrong side, no matter which side we are on ... came the message from the farm.
Interesting concept, but it isn't going to win us any favors with the government in power. So which side is winning? I asked silently.
The government is always winning right up until they aren't winning any more, came the reply from the controller.
So can you get me on that raid or not ... I asked.
We followed your logic program and our Latin American section chief is making the call as we speak, the controller silently said. We would definitely like to get Williams back.
I'm down here, so I would as well. He is most likely either dead or hold up in a very secure compound. I can't extract him from a government base without there being heavy casualties. Almost surely he would be one of them ... Yes I was testing the water. I wanted to see if his loss was acceptable.
We have gotten so much bad press lately ... It is to the point now that Williams having an accident, would almost be preferable to him making one of the bitchy, little girl, tells all, statements ... was the unspoken reply from the farm.
Yeah Almost ... I said silently in agreement. I hadn't meant to share it, but of course they knew that I knew, the part Williams played in our supplying arms to the path.
I had to try to think what would the government operatives have done with Williams. Would they have taken him to a safe house? Or would they have put his ass in prison first thing. If there was any doubt of his guilt, then I would put him in a safe house to interrogate him, but if I was sure of his guilt and just wanted a confession, then it would be prison. So he could be either place. Either way, he could have already been tortured.
In the world today there are hundreds of Doctor Deaths. A few are really doctors, but most are just butchers. No one can resist a true artist with an electrode or a scalpel. It's all about being inside the poor bastard's mind. Unless you totally botch it, he will talk before he dies. They don't always tell you everything, but usually it's because you don't know what to ask.
Getting an elaborate story under torture is not easy, but a simple yes or no isn't difficult at all. Even an address isn't hard, but complicated thoughts are more difficult. For instance a list of names is seldom complete. Almost always there are one or two that get passed over the first few times. That is why the interrogator asks the same questions over and over. Yeah it is boring and degrading work, but it gets results. If it didn't, there would not be so many practitioners of the trade.
"Can you be ready in ten minutes?" Olivia asked.
"Of course," I replied.
"You may not carry a weapon. You are coming along simply to observe." she informed me. She made it very clear that the decision about Williams was the government's not mine to make.
"I really want to go in to insure Williams safety is secure at all times. To do that I really do need a weapon," I suggested.
"No weapon, it is the single condition," she said.
"Very well, when do we leave?" I asked.
"The raid is being planned as we speak. When the troupers are on site, we will pull up." she informed me.
I couldn't really wrap my head around a banana republic's politics. Okay someone in the government figure out that the USA was supplying arms to the rebels. So they wanted to grab up the contractor making the delivery. Instead of sending in the army, they get a couple of national guardsmen to do it. Why would they do that? So that they can embarrass the USA, but why and how do it that way.
I did know that every revolution had people inside the government. Double agents, as it were, working for it's downfall. Suppose the people inside and laying low realized that the real government officials had wind of the USA's double dealing. If the double agent knew that the government was following Williams, which might not be too far fetched, since a double agent would know that kind of thing, right up till he got his ass scooped up. Okay so the double agent might send people loyal to him to pick Williams up. After that things could go either way for Williams.
They could slip him over the border, or they could bury his ass in the jungle. So I still didn't know what faction was responsible for Williams disappearing. People inside the Government were definitely on both sides of the revolution. That left me in a jam as far as allies went.
I had no idea who, if anyone, I could trust. My plan was to trust Jerrod and hope we could find a way to locate and rescue Williams. To be honest I expected him to be dead when I arrived, so the fact that he just might still be alive was a plus for me.
"Maxine, Olivia is looking for you. I think she had an update on the National Guardsmen." Jerrod said it with a smile as if whatever Olivia said would be bullshit. I happened to agree with him. Information from a banana republic's government wasn't high on my list of information to be accepted without a high degree of proof.
I hung out in the hotel restaurant until she arrived. "Maxine, I don't know who you called but you have your permission to go on the raid to capture those two men," Olivia informed me.
"Is there any chance I can go to the door before your men do? Just in case I can get them out without a lot of shooting?" I asked.
"None, I assure you they want to do a strike force raid. Grab up everyone in the place before they can do anything harmful to the hostage or any of our men." she said.
