Chapter 5

One day Ken had to wonder if his relationship with Maureen would continue. That was because as he was leaving to go to court, he noticed that Maureen had flowers on her desk. He didn’t say anything but Kerri mentioned the flowers to him and said that Maureen was seeing someone.

Ken’s reaction was initially one of concern, but after thinking about he hoped she had found someone who would give her the happiness she deserved. She was a wonderful person and he wished her well.

Business was getting better and better. Erin and Terri had spread the word among their staffs and Ted was getting overwhelmed with real estate business.

Ken had a talk with Kerri and he said in his opinion Ted needed some help. Ken continued saying that Uncle Bill who was initially responsible for the success of the business and still was referring clients, had mentioned that his granddaughter Peggy was graduating from law school. Bill said that Peggy was looking for a position and indicated she wanted to specialize in real estate law. Ken said he had met Peggy at a few family functions and thought she could be solid addition to the staff. He thought she could help Ted out with these increased real estate matters which could free him up for other work.

Kerri agreed but wondered if they weren’t out growing the confines of their present office building. Ken agreed with her and asked her if she had any suggestions. Kerri thought that since the building next door was up for sale that they could purchase that building and with a little remodeling connect it with building a walkway to their present building. Ken thought that was a great idea and something he should have thought of. He said he knew a realtor who could look into doing that.

One night Ken was back in his townhome relaxing after four hard days in court trying a case. He represented two people who were involved in an automobile accident. The other vehicle involved was a delivery van of a large automobile dealer. It was an intersection accident with a question of which vehicle ran the red light. There were no witnesses and Ken’s clients received serious contusions and lacerations. The jury after four hours of deliberations found on behalf of Ken’s clients and awarded approximately twenty times their large special damages to each client. Besides the bills there was the cosmetic aspect of the claim. Ken had offered to settle the claims before the trial for approximately one fifth of what the verdict was but the insurance company would not offer that amount which they said was exorbitant on a questionable liability case. That left Ken with no alternative but to try the case.

After thinking about his success in court, his thoughts drifted to the hand lotion concoction. Ken still wasn’t sure that this lotion worked on women. He knew that the love making episodes he had with women, to him indicated they were amply lubricated, but they could have been become that way without the lotion.

He did have an opinion as to men. It gave or help in him having an erection but he didn’t think it gave him the urge to have sex. He was satisfied that it wasn’t a date rape drug. Ken thought it worked on men but he questioned its effect on women. When Maureen and Erin had used the lotion, he made love to these two beautiful women, but maybe that would have happened anyway. Once the ice was broken and he started making love with these two women he hadn’t found it necessary for them to use the lotion when they made love. They had only used the lotion once with them which to him indicated that they not have needed the lotion in the first place. This suggested that he would have been successful in his advances towards them without using the lotion.
