Prelude

The dark colored van worked its way down the narrow, gravel, country road in the dark of a nearly moonless night in late September.

“This is probably far enough,” the large man in the front passenger seat told the driver. “Find a place to turn around and we’ll dump her.”

“There’s a pasture entrance just ahead,” the driver said. He pulled up just past the entrance, backed into it and then pulled out going in the direction they had just come from and stopped.

The large man in the front passenger seat got up and moved into the rear of the van where he gave orders to the man sitting on the floor next to their delivery, which only moaned.

“Open the back doors. When we get moving again, toss her out and close everything up. Can you handle her by yourself?” he asked.

“Sure, boss. She don’t weigh more than a hundred pounds or so. Not a problem,” the man in the back assured him.
