The living room smelled of lemon wax and old upholstery. Robert sat at the mahogany dining table, his laptop screen casting a pale blue glow over his tired features. He rubbed his temples, the lines of stress deepening on his fifty-year-old face.
“You cannot be serious, Robert,” Linda said. She stood by the door, her five-foot-ten frame filling the space. Her floral print dress hugged her chubby curves, the fabric straining slightly across her wide hips and full bust. Robert sighed and turned the screen toward her.
“The foreign delegation from Tokyo lands tomorrow morning. My boss didn’t give me a choice, Linda. He said this meeting is the cornerstone of the third-quarter projections. If I’m not there to lead the presentation, I’m basically handing my office to Miller.” Linda crossed her arms, her expression pinched.
“We have had this beach trip planned for six months. The kids are already packed. Chloe has been talking about the boardwalk for weeks.” “I know, I know,” Robert said, standing up to wrap his arms around her waist. He felt the soft, ample give of her stomach.
“Please, go. Take the kids. Take the credit card. Treat yourselves to the deluxe suite. I will make it up to you, I swear on everything.” Chloe, seventeen and already sporting a tanned glow from the early summer sun, leaned against the hallway wall. She rolled her eyes, her phone held loosely in one hand.
“Seriously, Dad? Your job is always the main character. Just let us go.” Leo, fifteen and gangly, looked up from his handheld console.
“Can we get the room with the balcony?” “Get the biggest room they have,” Robert groaned.
“Just please, don’t hate me.” Linda sighed, her shoulders dropping. She looked at her children, then back at her husband. The conservative streak in her usually demanded stability and togetherness, but the look of genuine desperation on Robert’s face softened her.
“Fine,” she murmured.
“But you are taking us to the mountains in the fall. No exceptions.” The drive to the coast took five hours. The air shifted from the humid scent of the suburbs to a sharp, salty tang that filled the car. When they arrived at the hotel, the luxury was immediate. The lobby featured towering marble columns and a scent of expensive lilies.
“Look at the pool!” Leo shouted, pressing his face against the glass.
“We are going to the beach first,” Linda declared, though she looked hesitant.
“I need to find something appropriate to wear.” “Mom, you can’t wear that oversized t-shirt and leggings on the sand,” Chloe said, glancing at her mother’s modest attire.
“You’ll look like a lifeguard who lost her whistle.” “I prefer to be covered, Chloe,” Linda replied, her voice soft but firm.
“It is eighty-five degrees out there,” Chloe countered.
“Come on. There is a boutique right across the street. Let’s just go.” The boutique was a whirlwind of neon colors and minimal fabric. Linda felt exposed just walking through the door. The racks were filled with things she considered lingerie, not swimwear. Chloe dragged her toward a section of vibrant prints.
“Try this,” Chloe said, thrusting a two-piece swimsuit into her mother’s hands. Linda stared at the garment. It was a deep emerald green, consisting of a supportive but low-cut top and a bottom that looked like a wide strip of fabric.
“I can’t wear this,” Linda whispered.
“It is ... it is far too small.” “It’s a high-waist cut, Mom. It’s flattering for your shape. Just put it on.” In the cramped dressing room, Linda struggled. The spandex fought against her curves. She pulled the bottoms up, the fabric gripping her wide thighs and settling snugly over her hips. As she adjusted the piece, she looked down. The fabric of the bikini bottom was narrow. Because she had always maintained a natural, fully grown, thick bush of dark hair, the lush growth pushed against the edges of the emerald fabric. A few stray, curly hairs peeked out from the top and sides, refusing to be contained by the modest cut. She stepped out, clutching a towel around her waist.
“Well?” she asked. Chloe beamed.
“You look amazing. You have an actual body, Mom. Stop hiding it.” Linda looked in the mirror. She saw a woman with a soft, generous stomach, heavy breasts that strained against the green cups, and a presence that felt suddenly, dangerously visible. She felt a flush of heat rise to her cheeks. The public beach was a chaotic symphony of screaming children, crashing waves, and the smell of coconut oil. Linda felt every eye on her as she walked from the hotel path to their spot on the sand. She kept the towel wrapped around her waist until the very last second, then slowly let it drop. The emerald swimsuit clung to her chubby frame. Her breasts bounced slightly with every step, the tops of her nipples pressing against the fabric. As she sat down on the towel, the bikini bottom shifted, revealing the dense, dark forest of her pubic hair. It was a stark, primal contrast to her conservative demeanor. Nearby, a group of young men noticed. They were athletic, their skin dark and glistening with sweat and seawater. Among them was Marcus, a twenty-one-year-old with shoulders like a linebacker and a smile that suggested he knew exactly what people were thinking. He leaned back on his elbows, his gaze locked on Linda.
“Damn,” Marcus murmured to his friend.
“Look at that woman. She’s built like a dream.” “She looks like she’d faint if you even looked at her wrong,” his friend chuckled. Marcus didn’t laugh. He watched the way Linda nervously adjusted the strap of her top, the way her soft thighs spread across the sand. He noticed the peek of dark hair beneath the green fabric. It sparked something visceral in him.
“I bet she’s a sleeper,” Marcus said. He stood up and began walking toward her. Linda was applying sunscreen to her arms, her movements slow and methodical.
“Excuse me,” Marcus said, his voice a deep, smooth rumble. Linda looked up, blinking. She had never been approached by someone so young and confident.
“Yes?” “I couldn’t help but notice you look a bit lost,” Marcus lied, flashing a brilliant white smile.
“You’re not from around here, are you?” “We are visiting,” Linda said, her voice fluttering.
“I am with my children.” Marcus glanced toward Chloe and Leo, who were playing in the surf a few yards away.
“They look like they’ve got the beach handled. I’m Marcus. I actually live nearby. There is a hidden cove just past the dunes—the water is crystal clear, and there are these amazing rock formations that most tourists miss. You look like someone who appreciates a good view.” Linda hesitated.
“I shouldn’t ... I don’t know.” “It’s just a short walk,” Marcus urged, stepping closer. The scent of him—salt, musk, and a hint of expensive cologne—swirled around her.
“I’d be happy to show you. A little adventure for the trip?” Linda looked at the vast, crowded beach and then at the lean, powerful man before her. There was an intensity in his eyes that made her heart hammer against her ribs. For a woman who had spent two decades in a predictable marriage, the sudden surge of attention was intoxicating.
“Just a quick look,” Linda whispered.
“Follow me,” Marcus said. He led her away from the main crowd, guiding her through the high, golden dunes where the wind whipped her hair across her face. They walked in silence for a few minutes, the sound of the ocean fading into a rhythmic thrum. He led her toward a cluster of secluded cabanas—wooden structures with thatched roofs and heavy linen curtains that fluttered in the breeze.
“The view is just behind this one,” Marcus said, stepping into a private cabana and gesturing for her to follow. As soon as Linda stepped inside, the atmosphere shifted. The shade was cool, the air heavy with the smell of old wood and sea salt. Marcus didn’t lead her to a view. Instead, he turned and stepped into her space, his large frame towering over her.
“You know,” Marcus whispered, his voice dropping an octave.
“I’ve been staring at you since you hit the sand.” Linda gasped, her back hitting the wooden support beam.
“I ... I should go back.” “You don’t want to,” Marcus said. He reached down, his large, calloused hand brushing against the emerald fabric of her bikini bottom. He felt the thickness of her bush beneath the spandex.
“God, you’re so natural. I can tell you’ve got a real forest down there.” Linda’s breath hitched. The bluntness of his words sent a shock of electricity straight to her core.
“Please,” she whimpered, though she didn’t move.
“Please what?” Marcus asked. He gripped the edge of her bikini bottom and pulled it aside, exposing the lush, dark curls of her pubic hair. He let out a low whistle.
