Daryl said that missiles should work in space as rockets did. The engineers and weapons mates agreed that the fighter launch tubes could be used to launch something other than a fighter at a pretty fast rate of speed and it would go fairly straight too. I asked if recoilless rifles would work as the recoil would leave the back end of the rifle as the round left the other. Again the engineers and weapons mates said that the force should not be that great against the size of this ship. Using the internet to locate one of everything we had discussed allowed the replicators to make more quickly after any adjustments needed were made.
All the ships were armed with recoilless rifles using explosive rounds. Preparations were made for the fleet to include placing mines out where an attack fleet would most likely come from. This also gave us a battle plan to move in certain ways to force the enemy to move through the mine field if they should come another way. Since none of our new friends were aware of the mines and the damage they would cause it was also believed the enemy would not know either.
Sure enough almost to the second wave attacked just as expected the only thing that was a surprise was that it was almost four times the size of the original attack force. What was even more surprising was the fact that almost 2/3 of the attack force was wiped out by all our mines again simple explosive force was more than the ships could handle.
The ships that did survive the mines were quickly destroyed by our improved weapons. The enemy ships were only able to get off two or three shots before being disabled or destroyed. RJ and Vek were pleased with the outcome of the battle three ships were hit by enemy fire causing minimal damage and only one fighter was lost and eleven others were damaged. The whole battle lasted less than an hour and every enemy ship was destroyed. It was believed that the battle was over before the enemy was able to report their defeat.
Never had the 'click' ever been defeated so it was unclear what would happen.
Only time will tell.
