Chapter 14: In Search of Sunset

Dave and Missy walked up to the cabana to find Jess and Carolina sitting on the couch chatting. Carolina had woken just minutes earlier and the two girls were now dressed in their evening clothes. Jess told Dave and Missy that Carolina's sister and her boyfriend were going to meet up with them tonight for dinner, drinks, and dancing, as Carolina and her friends were due to leave the following morning. Dave had planned to eat dinner here at La Vinoteca here at the Insotel Fenicia, and Jess had arranged for their limo to pick up Carolina's sister and her boyfriend somewhat earlier, and they were due to arrive fairly soon. While they were waiting for their guests Dave and Missy went into their side of the cabana to change.

Dave emerged first, followed shortly thereafter by Missy. Dave was wearing his usual jeans over his swim trunks along with a dark patterned shirt, and he'd selected a comfortable pair of Puma Future Cats, as he anticipated the long night of dancing would be hard on his feet. He checked the time with his Bvlgari Aluminum and found it was just nearing 5:30, which was nearly perfect for his plans for the evening.

Missy was dressed simply but prettily in a black babydoll halter style dress over an electric blue bikini that was identical to the pink one she'd worn earlier in the day except for color, with some black flip-flops. Jess was wearing a sea green dress that was identical to Missy's over the white swimsuit she'd worn, then immediately taken off earlier in the day, but she was wearing 3" vinyl heels, which made her appear substantially taller than Missy, although she was the same height. The shoes weren't particularly practical but Dave knew his sister, and figured she would simply kick them off at some point during the night.

Carolina was also wearing one of the babydoll dresses, in an electric blue color, over her swimsuit which was nearly the same color, along with matching blue heels. Dave inquired about the dresses, as it was clear they were all the same model, and Jess said that they'd bought them from Victoria's Secret in Orange County before they left, and thought it would be fun to all wear the same dress in similar colors. Carolina added that they'd left one in the car for her sister to change into as well.

Just then, the limo arrived with Anya and her boyfriend Gunther. As promised, Anya was wearing the red babydoll dress, but she was also wearing knee high red vinyl boots. Two years older than Carolina at 21, Anya was a blonde like her sister but that was where the similarities ended. She had long straight light blond hair that was approximately the same color as Missy's but a bit longer, down to the middle of her back, steel blue eyes, and a much more pronounced figure. To put it simply, she was stacked like a brick shithouse. Her 38D breasts stretched the fabric of the dress, and she obviously wasn't wearing a bra. The outline of a thong covering her nicely rounded ass was clearly visible under the dress, and Dave thought it was going to be an interesting time when the water started.

Gunther on the other hand was a blonde clean cut man who stood an inch shorter than Dave's 6'2, and he was a bit slighter in build, but was clearly athletic. He was dressed similarly to Dave, jeans, button down, and Pumas. He returned Dave's firm handshake with one of his own and Dave liked him immediately.

They headed to the restaurant, which had a nice panoramic view of the ocean, and it was nearly deserted as they were dining fairly early. Dave had planned an early dinner because he figured it would be cool to check out the sunset at the legendary Café del Mar in San Antonio, which was on the other side of Ibiza.

The server brought out a pitcher of Sangria and they relaxed, drinking the delicious beverage and they did the usual round of introductions. Anya and Gunther were both students at Vienna University, which was the large liberal arts university in the middle of Vienna. Anya was studying history, while Gunther was studying political science and both were nearing the completion of their degrees. Anya was planning to go to graduate school after she finished school, while Gunther had a job lined up in the Austrian government.

The server brought out a wide selection of tapas (appetizers) including some seafood dishes, empanadas, and other delicacies, along with another pitcher of sangria. The chat continued, and Anya and Gunther extended an invitation for them to visit them in Vienna, a suggestion very strongly reinforced by Carolina, and one that Dave mentioned they would definitely take them up on, as he was planning for them to swing through central Europe around beginning of August.

"What are your plans for the next month then, Dave?" asked Anya.

"Well, so far, I had planned on leaving here either tomorrow or Monday for Barcelona, where we'd spend a few days, then heading through Marseilles to the Cote d'Azur, spending a few days in Nice/Monte Carlo, then going down the Italian Coast slowly to Naples, and hitting up Sorrento and Capri before coming back up to Rome. We are planning to meet up with some friends at the Track & Field World Championships in Rome during the first week of July, so that gives us a little time to explore Southern France and Italy," replied Dave. "After that, I figure we can go up to Florence and Milan, then up into Switzerland before flying to Venice and taking a boat to Greece, then doing a week or so in the Greek Isles and a day or two in Athens before flying back to London, then driving down to Paris and through Switzerland and Bavaria to Vienna and looping up through Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Repubic through Germany to Denmark, then back down through the Low Countries to London again. We were planning to spend maybe another couple months here, so that may give us enough time to come back to Ibiza again before going back to the US."

Anya and Gunther were surprised at the scale and ambition of Dave's plans for the rest of their vacation. Carolina hadn't told them much about their new friends but it was obvious that they had money. However, most Americans didn't make an effort to see anything except the highlights of Europe while visiting, and traveling thousands of miles through Europe by car would certainly give them a true European experience.

The main course arrived, a gigantic skillet filled with paella, a rice dish that included sausages, chicken, sea scallops, chunks of lobster, mussels, shrimp, and many different vegetables. While most paellas were composed of one type of food, such as meat or seafood, this one was extensive, containing all sorts of ingredients, and it was utterly delicious. Conversation briefly paused while they served themselves generous portions of the lovely paella, but soon continued.

"Anya, do you guys ski often?" asked Missy.

"Yes, all the time, in the winter," said Gunther. "I have some friends who ski with the national team, so sometimes we train with them."
